What did native Americans think of tornadoes

So with the recent and ongoing tornadic activity I was wondering what native Americans thought of tornadoes. Something else I learned was that tornadoes seem to always rotate in a counter-clockwise direction.

The cause of the twister? According to the Kiowa, it was the Storm-Maker Red Horse, a supernatural being with the upper body of a horse and a long, snakelike tail that whipped around and created tornadoes.

Coriolis Effect. Tornadoes spin counter clockwise in the northern hemisphere and clockwise in the southern hemisphere because the storms that spawn them rotate that way and tornadoes mostly will follow the rotation direction of the parent storm.

"Mostly" is the key word. Unlike hurricanes/cyclones/super-cells that always rotate counter clockwise in the northern hemisphere and clockwise in the southern hemisphere tornadoes can have a mind of their own in very rare cases. You can get northern tornadoes that spin clockwise and southern tornadoes that spin counter-clockwise.
