My old GPU was stolen with the laptop it was in (Lenovo y50, GTX960m). GPU before that was a GTX460GC 768, and it was in perfect condition. I upgraded the CPU and motherboard (from C2D e8400/EP45UD3R to Core i3 2120 and Intel Extreme p67 board) and handed that rig down.

I find it always good to have a spare GPU for troubleshooting issues if a new GPU doesn't post or has artifacts. So I always keep a low end/cheap backup.

I sold my gtx 670 when i bought my 7990. Maybe I'll give my 7990 away to a friend when I upgrade, or maybe I'll sell it as well.

I usually never hold on to an old card unless I deem it viable enough to pass on my little sister. I try to sell it within the warranty periode. For example my old EVGA SC ACX 2.0 980 had over a year warranty left, and I sold it for 300$ (and I paid for the shipping so around 280$), and got a FTW 1070.

This is also why I am a loyal EVGA customer, since their RMA/service is legendary (I know kind of dramatic), it boosts the resale value.

I tried to sell my gtx 470 with accelero extreme cooler one and a half years ago for 50 euro's.

Nobody wanted it so I put it in a box. Might reuse the cooler one day.

Pretty much this. I'll give my old GPUs to friends/family who will make better use of them. Although my last card GTX670 may be a bit overkill for my housemates Civ4 habbit. Still a huge upgrade from his HD5450 though.

Old video cards get passed down to my kids or to one of my older desktop systems. Kids are fine with my old Radeon 5770 and 5750 cards which still see almost daily use. The only cards I've shelved are those with less than 1GB of VRAM (Radeon HD 3870 512MB, GeForce 9600 GSO 384MB, GeForce4 Ti 4200, etc.

I have gotten rid of a lot of cards too, though, and I am currently using a handful of newer ones regularly--at home and at work. RX 480 nitro is still packaged up for later

I normally hand them out to family free or friends at prices so cheap they're stupid to turn me down. I sold my 7970's during the bitming craze and have regreted letting go of my reference 7970+Accelero, that card was a champ.

I got a GTX 680 sitting in a closet, offered it two family members but they said no Now I got a pretty GTX 780 Lightning sitting on my desk. I've seriously debating using it for PhysX - just because. Haha.
