Interesting thread. I'm curious about this stuff since I'm currently trying to improve my diet as well. Feel free to comment if you see anything totally egregious.
Breakfast (~9AM):
Toasted everything bagel with a little cream cheese, sliced cluster tomato, ~2 oz lox trimmings.
This is a very common breakfast for me. Sometimes I eat some oatmeal (quick Irish oats, walnut pieces, raisins, a bit of maple syrup) instead.
AM snack (~10AM-12PM):
16 oz black coffee
Lunch (~1:30PM):
A big homemade sandwich, consisting of 2x big slices good sourdough, 3x big slices smoked turkey, 2x sliced cluster tomatoes, 2x big pieces of romaine lettuce, some slices off a wedge of 'very old dutch cheese' (not too much, I'm not huge on dairy), mayo, honey mustard, salt, pepper, dried basil.
I almost always have one of these sandwiches for lunch.
Also, double espresso on my way back to work.
Afternoon snack (~4PM):
Nothing today, but I will sometimes have a packet of Trader Joe's Omega Trek Mix if I have any at my desk. It's a nice trail mix with some nuts and dried fruit in it, and no chocolate or other crap. They come in little packets that are maybe a small handful each.
Post workout (~8PM):
Odwalla Vanilla Al'Mondo Super Protein shake - 380 cals, 12g fat, 38g sugar, 18g protein
This seems ripe for a change to something else, but I know nothing about protein drinks or even whether I'm consuming additional protein at the right time. Comments here would be appreciated.
Dinner (~9PM):
Ghetto fab stir fry, consisting of 10-12 medium prawns, half a sliced up zucchini, one bundle of udon noodles (
like so), and a few dashes of soy sauce and rice wine vinegar.
This dinner is somewhat atypical. Usually I cook up a piece of meat (chicken breast, pork chop, steak) and make a salad instead. I usually try and avoid carbs at dinner.
I should also say I've been going to the gym to lift 4 times a week for the 8 months or so, and I try and do some additional cardio on the weekend, but I'm not exactly 'body-building' or anything like that. Mainly I'm just trying to eat healthy and supply the appropriate amount of protein to my muscles at the appropriate time.
EDIT: Ick, those noodles are making me feel kinda full/gross. Now I remembered why I cut down on the carbs at dinner time.
