ok, a little early, but I wanted to start a fresh thread to talk about the Bush speech.

So any comments on the speech?

Are we supposed to believe anything that comes out of this man's mouth anymore. His "grand plan" for veering from his "stay the course" plan is more troops and more of the same? Ummkay... Sounds like a deeper entrenched course to me. Yay, we have more evidence that this admin is doing nothing more than autorectal rooting.

edit: now we have a bigger bad war. Since he is a tried and true texan i can see where his propensity toward "make it big" comes from. WTF, could he not do this from the start? This man is absolutely worthless. I think i can hear both neurons in his head popping off.

I simply cannot listen to GWB for more than about 3 sentences without turning away in disgust. Same thing happened tonight. Also the look of his face is totally offensive. That frown just turns me off.

The Bush administration's plan calls for massive deployment of Iraqi army and police brigades into Baghdad. But I am wondering how trustworthy these units are. Are these units loyal to Iraq, or to religious leaders?

Ridiculous. Note his plan that, by the fall, the Iraqi security forces will largely take the lead in peacekeeping - does that seem realistic to anyone but him? This is basically just a token addition to his old "stay the course" approach.

Remember, America, you elected this boob not once but twice.

What a crock of crap. He is playing the "ohhh gawd, please save my political legacy" card with our soldier's lives.

I still don't understand why any of you would rather forfeit than try to win. We arent losing, but we arent winning. Why quit in a tie.

I thought he spoke well and explained his reasonings quite well.

Glass half empty / half full. Part of me goes, well at least in 2008 this fiasco will be over, while the other part of me says, crap, that's a long time further to put up with this buffoon. The sad part is, the fiasco will not be over in 2008, but far from it. We'll be paying for this war of lies for generations to come. :|

If you are so interested in winning, then I suggest you enlist at once

WTF are you drinking/smoking?

There is nothing to win and thousands of more American lives to lose...for NOTHING.
That jackass did everything he could to keep his own butt safe during Viet Nam & yet he thinks nothing over risking another 20,000 American lives over nothing.

This is gamblers fallacy. Double down will essentially win back all of your money and win a lot more. It's also looking at it from the perspective of what you have *spent* and not wanting to give up, but not looking at what you will *SPEND* to win. Sunk costs should be irrelevant to future decisions.

We are not winning in Iraq, in fact, we are helping A-Q beat us. Bin Laden himself said that he doesn't have to defeat this country to win the war. Merely wasting our time, efforts, and most importantly, money, wins. He didn't attack the WTC to "win" he did it to shake the foundation of our financial system, destroy confidence, and incite us into a blind rage where we'd waste our resources swatting flies with a sledge hammer.

This bumbling monkey handed him the win.

The idea that you'd refer to this like it was sort of game is quite telling....

Well look on the bright side; at least he's learning. Two years ago he didn't even know there were two main secs of Islam.... nor their deep 1350 years old hatred for one another... Reminds me of a kid who learns a multi-syllable word and says it ad-nauseum for a week. Kinda cute.
