I'm an admin for a number of imaging systems for a large healthcare system. I sort of fell into the position unexpectedly. It's a very cool job that blurs the line between some very elaborate IT systems (over 300 TB of storage and 60 servers) and clinical workflows. I get hands on experience with very specialized systems that could easily land me a job at any major hospital in the country.

I have no complaints. Some days are rough, some days are awesome. Overall it's a rewarding job and I get to work with some very cool people.

I'm an assistant team leader working in a dorm for special needs children. In my dorm we have 24 kids, 12 boys, 12 girls. Anywhere from the age of 8-19. Campus wide we have around 80 special needs children. I love it more than anywhere I have worked in the past.

I work for T-Mobile and own an adult sports business. Currently trying to move more towards my business and less towards working for T-Mobile.

I'm 22 and still in college, so I can't say much, but I know a guy (24) from choir who majored in Chemistry, got out into the real world and decided he wanted nothing to do with it. So now he's back double majoring in Art History and Music Ed. Granted I don't know the details of his finances, but it's certainly doable IMO. The obvious downside is that you may end up being an old noob depending on how radical the switch is.

As for myself, currently I'm a computer engineering major/biomedical engineering minor (major isn't offered where I am), but I have the downside of being interested in almost everything. Would have 100 degrees if it was humanly possible. Settled on engineering because that was the most developed of my interests when I matriculated. Not entirely sure it's the direction I want to go, but it's interesting and will almost certainly net me a decent salary somewhere. At that point I'll have more freedom to explore by comparison to my current situation.

I work with/love computers/servers/networking in my own company, as well as a business environment. Dream job would be traveling on someone else's dime, telling about my experience, like Rick Steve.

Age is later 20's, worked aerospace engineering and IT since college graduation. Juggled a bunch of things - was systems admin, network tech, QC in those jobs.

Didn't like IT & engineering world and went back to college to take chem, microbio classes.

Left said jobs, applied and recently got accepted for a postbac degree in forensic and lab sciences in another state that is a partnership program with the FBI.

Starts in a few months, just killing time by making a living being a neffer and ebayer right now .

Ideal job is to determine your cause of death, and process evidence left at crime scenes.

I wish I was either:

1) a dolphin trainer at Sea World
2) Brewmaster
3) Cultural anthropologist living with a far away remote tribe and observing

Currently - Accounting & Finance consultant at a pre-IPO media company where I'm focused on a multiple year audit.

I pursue brewing and cultural anthropology and animal husbandry as a hobby. Perhaps you could as well.

Retired, 21 years ago:
I work part time at a small HVAC company, computers and whatnot.
Gotta have someplace to go everyday.
Crew chief for three race teams with 4 cars, LeMons (won Gingerman), SCCA (CenDiv champs last 2 years, currently 2nd), IMSA (Lites, current point leaders).
Moderator on Asustek. And I race my sailboat and teach sailing.

Dream job? Run sail charters in the West Indies.

...or, my all time favorite, be a loan rejector at a bank.
