What do I need for my two connections?

OK, I live in a University residence so I have an ethernet jack right in the wall which supplies me with internet. I have a computer hooked up to it right now and I just bought a network adapter for my PS2. So I now want both my computer and PS2 to be hooked up to the internet at the same time. Is a small hub the best way to go for this? Thanks.

Yes, a hub will work. However, your school may require you to register the network adapter's MAC address before you can use it.

A small hub or switch should do fine -- these days, you can get 4 or 5 port 10/100 switches for less than $40.

Is your current workstation connected to the internet using a fixed IP (probably not).

I have a question related to this- I got a hub and it didnt work, so I got one with an uplink port and it still isnt working...is there a different type of cable to connect the hub to the wall? Like a crossover cable or somthing? I just used the cable I had used to connect my comp to the port, and the same type from the hub to my computer and it didnt work...heh, and to think only 2 years ago I was nearly CCNA...man I forgot a LOT =)

Get a SOHO router -- and make sure it's one that works with the PS2 network adapter before you buy. More likely than not, your university is going to want to deal with you having one IP address and one MAC address. They might allow something more, but it's going to require some amount of effort going through them and it's gonna make them consider you... special. They might want to charge you $$ for it, too. In contrast, with a SOHO router, they don't know anything, and everyone's happy. Plus it'll give you some degree of "firewall" protection.

Too late, I just bought a hub. Great deal too - $30 CAN free shipping with a free network card. The computer department shouldn't give me any problems, I used to work there. Thanks for the advice though.
