What do I need to allow remote using local computer but w/o affecting local user

I am giving up my main pc to wife, but still like to use the numerous apps on it. mainly the browser, and chat. I don't really want to install/replicate my old stuff on my new gaming pc.

something like VNC or remote desktop, but basically login as another user, so she can still use the computer when I am remote in.

Dont think you can have multiple sessions in XP, you need a server 2003 with terminal services to do that. Otherwise VNC will be fine......

Windows is perfectly capable of it, but your running into licensing restrictions so that sort of thing is disabled in Windows, IIRC

there may be a registry hack around it, but I doubt anybody around here would be willing to tell you even if they knew. I don't know personally.

I know you can go into the services, select terminal services, and set it to accept multiple sessions. However, I don't remember if that is all there is too it. Windows put support for it into XP SP2, but then pulled it at the last minute. The capability is there and I've used it before, but I honestly don't recall if there was a hack or anything else need. drag is probably right.

There is a hack to get concurrent session working in MCE2005, but I don't know if there's a hack for XPPro, though it certainly has the code for it. I'm not sure there's any chance for it with XPHome.

So depending on your OS, google search "concurrent sessions [your_OS]" and see if anything useful pops up.
