Making out is kissing + some caressing as an activity rather than just a kiss hello or goodbye. At some point making out becomes 'fooling around' or 'petting/heavy petting', usually when the focus moves from spit sharing to groping, feeling up, etc.

Yeah, that does differ from mine. "Making Out", to me, requires tongue and enough time investment that body temps increase, as well as some caressing(optional but quite preferred by both parties).
