Boston must be big for patent attorneys. A woman I dated a lifetime ago works as a patent attorney and lives in Boston. She makes serious bank.

Its huge. There are 2500+ patent attorneys within a 20 mile radius of Boston.

Aren't you in the Boston area? A buddy I graduated (undergrad) with continued on with law and just landed a gig at a firm there (Lando & Anastasi). He's also patent, with his undergrad in EE.

I'm in NH. Used to live outside Boston. I know many folks at Lando. Nice place to work.

Retail management...I manage sales for a district...usual commute time is 30 minutes but I have a store that's 2 hours away (time not distance due to traffic) and I fly to the rest of the stores on a weekly basis. Most of the time it's Monday - Friday from 7a - 4p and some weekends and alway responding to emails/texts/calls. Salary is pretty decent. Enough to support my wife and child and a bad car habit...

I am the safety guy for a manufacturing company. I work from 7:30 to 4:00. 30 minute commute.

I am the PITA that tells you that your not to step on the top step of the ladder.

Could have used you at my last job... Genius decided to run his own toaster at his desk, never cleaned it out, stunk up the entire floor for an hour everyday when he used it -- I went to scope it out after work one day, it was charred black inside full of crap.

Some other genius suspended his Isobar (heavy, metal-cased surge protector) in mid-air. What was holding it up? The computer cords plugged into it because the cords weren't long enough.

Hours are variable but tend to do 9:30-5:30 on most normal days. Commute is only 6 miles but it takes anywhere from 15 - 45 minutes depending on when I leave and luck.

Pay is pretty good (enough to rent a 2 bedroom in San Jose on one salary) and benefits great.

Materials manager for a Tier 1&2 automotive supplier. It's OK.

I find metal stamping somewhat tedious and boring compared to the manufacturing I've been involved with in the past. We do a sizable amount of work for a well known firearms manufacturer and that is probably the most interesting side of what I do.

7AM-5PM, M-F, 5 minute commute. Lots of flexibility when I need it.

I do well for my age/education, especially living in a cheap area (northeast Ohio).

My skill set is much better suited for ERP implementations and things like that, but the right opportunity hasn't presented itself yet. I'm getting a lot of good experience here so I'm not in any rush to leave.

I teach for a living.

Fortunately, I chose when I work, where I work, with whom I work with, for how long I work, and if I work. So all those vary depending on my mood and time of the year.

Generally I commute 30 minutes each way, but these days, I switch to meetings over the phone.

I'm in the 1% in terms of annual income.

My step-son is a CHP officer. His base pay is a little over 100k and he had over half that in OT last year.

The big catch is you have to have a college degree just to apply, regardless of major.

I used to wonder in threads like these if people will tell what their REAL job is...no one here admits to being a dishwasher, or cashier at Burger King.

Me, 5 years doing good ol' Desktop support, 4 years fixing ATM's and driving around all day from bank to bank.

My office is my work vehicle now, and being a dedicated field guy is fun.

I spent time doing white collar, desktop support stuff. I enjoy being out much, MUCH more in the field.

A bit higher than Dallas, cost of living speaking but not as high as CA or NY area. I do not know where you are exactly so I can't tell the comparison.

Speaking of Dallas, you can start out at over $44.8K and I am very sure they do not require a college degree.
