Let's be honest for anonymity's sake and get a feel for ATOT.

Let's get the dumb 250K/yr jokes out of the way. I'll start as a gesture of good will- IT PM, 120K. I actually liked being a contractor when I was pulling more ($158K~). I'm not getting any younger and I feel like I'm just a middle of a pack and never made anything BIG of myself.

Career related threads actually end up having great responses and input in ATOT. I hope this turns into one as well.

had to go back and check my W2 again. $273K is right. This includes stocks, so not just base salary. Just a lowly engineer with ~10 yrs experience.

$56k, land surveyor. I always knew it didn't pay much, but I loved the work way back. I don't love it so much anymore, but now I'm stuck in the field. On the plus side, the money I make (very)slowly increases as my desire for money decreases, so it makes the raises bigger :^D

Software developer at an investment bank. I'm in the last category of the poll (but not up to the joke salary in the OP).

Unemployed, $0.00 USD (0.00 Euro).

Not even collecting unemployment yet because of my severance.

And without adding location to the formula, the epeen on this means nothing. I make 6 figs a year as a software developer, but my living expenses are very, very low. If I made this much in Manhattan I would be very poor. Here I do very well. If I was to move to a higher cost of living area I would be darn sure my wage was commensurate with that area.

IT Consulting $105k in the Midwest. I could have jumped ship to industry for 180k but it wasn't worth it. I like the experience and 40hr weeks that I'm getting in my current role.

A ballpark estimate might mean more. Lower, low-middle, middle, middle-high, higher class, and rich.

I think I'd put mine in middle, and slightly favoring the lower end.

right near 50k a year, computer technician, minor networking support. I live in a very rural area and the money is actually pretty good. I was making near 70k back in the Boston metro area, but the cost of living was much higher there.
