I never quite understood the idea of Black Friday putting retailers "into the black." It seems like most people go out to get the early bird deals; if they don't find them, they leave empty handed. Maybe some of them buy something else that still gives the retailer a profit, but heck, why not have a "Black Friday" every week...then it seems like they'd always been in the black?

Went to frys at 5:45. scored a Radeon 9800np for 199 and GFFX 5600 Ultra for 99. Both no rebates.

my best buy actually let people in 25 at a time starting at 5:30 so I got my stuff and was out by 6:00 (short checkout lines and I got everything I wanted without the crowds) I managed to get in the store at 5:45 and nearly all the radeon 9600's were gone, but there was about half of the lite-on dvd +- drives and about 20 CD-r spindles left

Circuit city: picked up a lava lamp within the first 2 minutes of the store opening. There were 3 left, and after I got mine, the others ran out within seconds. Also grabbed a wallet there.

Office Max: bulk of my shopping: $10 scanner, FAR dvd disks, FAR USB memory keychain, and FAR some other stuff.

Staples: turned out the CD-R's weren't imation, so I only got a PC Cam for $5.

Walgreens: they actually had good CD-R's for cheap. Got 100 TDK's for $3.

They had others for $70 that came with mechwarrior, but since i already got it w/the xbox.

Went to Best Buy at 5:45 (already 300+ people in line). I managed to come away with what I wanted which was the 120 gb Maxtor and the MAG 14" LCD. Don't ask me how, but I was one of the few people (only 10) who got the lcd screen. They put the display sort of behind another display and noone could really see them, but once I found them and people saw me, they were gone in like 5 seconds. LOL.
