<< I'm an Audi fan, but I don't think you're going to find a stock A4 with a better power to weight ratio than the Type S (260hp), unless the Type S is a pig of a car. Even the S4 only has 250 hp stock. >>

SO it has more horsepower but what is the toruqe?

Get the A4. Better yet, buy a used A4 and save some money. The WRX is real nice too but that's a sport compact, not a sedan and not in the same league. Sure it performs but Audi is about status and well rounded performance, not boy racing around town.

If you can't fit in a 325 then you probably won't fit in an A4. They are roughly the same size.

My boss is 6'4" and he says he's got to put his seat back all the way leaving no room behind him in an A4. That's why he went with an A6.

Exactly. Honda's Vtec engines are nice on the track, but their off the line performance stinks. Their power band is very high in the RPMs and you have to keep your revs high to get good performance out of them. Vtec engines always have less torque than HP... not always a good thing as low end power suffers considerably.

The Acura TL type S weighs 300 lbs more than the Audi A4 2.8

Have you considered the Chrysler 300M? I've read a number of reviews that say the handling and performance of that car is quite good, especially considering the size. I believe an AT member, Rio Rebel, bought one recently, maybe you can ask him how he likes it.

Actually the 2002 Subaru wrx only comes in sedan model or wagon model, so it is in the same league. Another vote here for the 2002 wrx it kicks butt, 4wd 227 hp and 6 or less sec 0-60 and I'd rather have fun than status.

Audi has more style in my eyes regardless of which is "really the better car"

A friend just bought a 1.8T A4. It's ok, no lighting up the tires. Handeling is very good. But I still like my Maxima...

I like the maximas too very comfortable and a pretty nice drive, my salesperson took corners on sandy roads at about 65 and we handled them very well. im just not so crazy about the styling for 2001, IMO 2000 or 1999 outside looked nice. Does anybody know when the new altima is coming out people have been saying thats a good one too.

i will go sit in the beamer, if it works then it works, my major concern is that my legs bend to much when im driving so i need a little more leg room or higher seats. (head room has been a problem too)

My brother just got the TL. Nice care. I don't like it enough to buy it though. I have my eyes set on the BMW 325 but then I'm worried about the miliage... A 2-door accord looks nice too.

No sedan short short of the BMW 540, Lexus G400, Mercedes E430, and Audi S4 will touch a Subaru WRX. IT's about $25K here and with the change left over, you can make it into the rally cars just like you see on WRC

I WANT! Plus, I hear Subaru advocates modding, just so long as your buy their car!

The Audi is a much more classy car than any Acura or Subby. The Subby WRX is a pretty good bang-for-buck car, but it is cheap b'cause everything about it "is cheap". interiors, trim etc.
But it is an excellent go-kart. Once the Mitsu Evo comes out early next year (in US), WRX will have a fight on it's hand in the same category.

Acura inspite of higher hp ratings (typical of Honda engines) is quite behind Audi or BMW in performance and handling and luxury. You gotta drive one to believe. Plus the Acura interior are kinda cheapish too and remind more of a Accord or Civic. But they are best in reliability.

Audi is releasing by this year-end the new A4, which has already been aclaimed to beat the BMW in dynamics in European test-drives and everything else was anyhow better than the Bimmers.

If you can afford the S4, there is quite no sedan under 50K, than can quite match up to it. Except when the new M3 comes out (but the M3 optioned out will be over 50K)

Meanwhile if your budget stretches to about 40K, you can even look at the Audi A6 2.7T manual. Superb car. Knocks everthing this side of BMW 540i/M5

Another vote for the A4. If you can wait go for the new 2002 model. Complete redesign. Looks like a smaller version of the A6. I think it's also bigger then the current one.

I plan to get one in a few years when I can no longer afford to buy gas for my 4 X 4 .
