Current - House - 4BR, 2.5BA. 3100 SF. Its too big. Trying like hell to convince my wife to move but she is being stup . . . erm . . . stubborn about it.

Priors -

2BR 800SF apartment (single, not ghetto)
1BR 650 SF apartment (met wife - pretty ghetto)
1200SF 3BR townhouse (Pretty nice spot in NOVA - best purchase I ever made - bought for $210k, sold for $430k right before the housing bubble popped)
2100SF 4BR colonial (Mass - dumbest purchase I ever made - sold house for the same price that it was purchased for, but realtors took 6%)

Big city living... no fun... not sure how or why anyone does it. I'll stick to paying $1200/mo for a 1100sqft house. I'm actually paying more than I have to so I can pay it down faster.

Why isn't there a "your mom" option? Am I even on ATOT? What the heck is going on here?

My apartment caught on fire, then when I was moving the rest of my belongings out it flooded. I am double homeless

Been staying at a friends for over a month.

Apartment - rent.

If I ever buy, it will be an apartment. I would not want to deal with all the issues associated with owning a house; flooding, boiler, electrical panels, termites, roof, plumbing, sewer/drainage, landscaping, etc. Some of these certainly apply to apartments - but, you have the building's maintenance that handles it.

So I was just thinking. What type of place do you live in? House, apartment...shoe box? This would be interesting.

I live in a house.

Funny... I figured that you would be in some special EMP shielded bunker, hiding from the T-800's

Renting a condo/apartment right now. Just moved to this city for work and am not willing to commit to living here long-term yet. It's also nice to not have a mortgage, so just paying rent for now and socking money away.

Are you wondering about rent versus own in combination? Some people just assume house means owning. I hated owning so I sold it and now I rent a house. I can't live in anything with shared walls for work reasons.
Prostitution?

This is a thinly veiled brag thread right?

Denver - 2000 sq ft home built in 1916
Steamboat Springs - 1000 sq ft condo

Steamboat condo is owned outright, but have a ways to go on the Denver house.

4163 sq ft house near Orlando, FL . I'm married and have 2 girls, 3 and 4 years old. I need as much hiding space as I can get.

Heh, does that actually work? I can't hide from my 2 year old at home. She always finds me and pounds on the door and yells if she can't get in

I have gates on the staircase . I work nights so I sleep during the day and the extra distance certainly helps.

I live in a small house (1,100 sq ft maybe) with a detached garage.

The house is made of river rocks. The floors, walls and ceiling are all wood (wormy chestnut). It was built back in the 50's. Think mountain cabin type thing.

Fern

This actually sounds pretty cool.

As for me, simple 1100 sqft house with matching basement, so I actually get a decent amount of space. Detached 1 car garage. 1950's house. It's built extremely well and the taxes are cheap (~$1700/yr).

I own it outright so I'd like to keep it that way moving forward, but if my job situation drastically changes for the better, I'm not against borrowing again and getting that dream house.
