Interesting. I always thought this board had more nVidia users.

I personally have an evga 6800gt agp.

Modded x800gto. Will probably keep it until r600/g80, unless I find a faster midrange card that unlocks into a high end card.

ti4200 (DVR), 9700Pro (broken & obsolete gaming box), X200 IGP (gaming box in being built), mobility 9700 (laptop)

Just ordered a 6600 refurb for $63 shipped, it'll have to last me until Oblivion arrives. Then it's best midrange or low end bang for the buck.

I have owned, in order:

GF2 MX400
GF2 GTS
GF4 Ti4200
2x GF4 Ti4400
GF 6800GT
GF 7800GTX
GF 7800GT

My next card will be another GT to SLI. After that I am predicting R600, or the refresh flavor of the R600.

Evga 7800GT

also have owned most every Nvidia card back to the Geforce. Currently have a GF4 4200 still working, a PCI FX5200, a AGP MSI GF2MX still in use, and a spare AGP Evga GF2MX sitting around. Still have a GF3 sitting around with a much-too-loud after market cooler that I put on it.
Also had BFG 6800GT SLI, and just sold my last BFG 6800GT that I had left.

Soon to have a PCI 6200 for triple multimonitor support on the GF4 rig (MS Flight Sim 2004).

Used to own a 9800 Pro, experienced multiple driver issues and got rid of it. Owned other ATI products like the TV Wonder and had show-stopping bugs due to poor drivers and software support from ATI.

7800GT in my personal/main rig. Might add another sometime, but I dont need it now.

Might be upgrading to the 7900GT. Will def go SLI again someday, but only if I get a bigger LCD than my 2005FPW.

edit- and of course I owned a Diamond Monster 3D (thats a Voodoo1 to the kiddies out there and new school punks) Owned many others too like other 3dfx cards.. but dont care to list everything.

I was totally a former Zombie and proud of it. 3dfx!!!
You dont need 32bit color! Scott Sellars!! Weeeee!!!!!!!

X800 XT (AGP)

Will be looking to go maybe X1800 or X1900 later in the year when prices drop.

I'm comfortable with ATI now and they'd have to release something crap like Nvidia did with the FX series for me to switch back over.

OP, what do you do the most with your machine? Tasks will give a better idea where you should go.

I do video editing and animation (1 and 2 respectively). My video editor works better with fewer device issues with ATI cards. My animation package works better with nVidia, but does not have device issues with ATI. I cannot cheaply upgrade my mobo (dual Xeons @ 533). So, I went with an ATI X800XT AIW. Bonus, it gives me AV->DV in, so I can hookup a VHS deck when I need to capture analog video.

So, what is your story?

I have a 6600GT. Selling some of my stuff to get enough for 2 7800GTs in SLI . (should have enough within the next month)

Interesting results so far ... although a roughly even split (55-60 votes apiece), Nvidia responders are about twice as likely to pick the current generation (i.e. 2X as many 7 series over 6), whereas ATI responders are twice as likely to pick previous generation (ie.. 2x at many X series as X1 series). I'm guessing a lot of us got in on those x800/x850 AGP deals during the ATI markdowns last year ... or maybe Nvidia users are going for top performance, whereas ATI users going for top price value (e.g. potentially modable X800GTOs)?

Have always owned ATI's (till the 9700Pro), and picked two nV's now: a GigaByte 6800GS and an Asus EN7800GTX TOP... Don't plan on upgrading soon... The 7800 has the brute power, but the GS is no slouch either... Plays all my fairly demanding) games like NFSMW, Q4, F.E.A.R... just fine... Less eyecandy, but a very, very fast graphics card...

decent analysis

i got in on the $200 AGP x850xt since i do not plan to migrate to PCIe soon

i bet the 'balance' also shifts - shortly - as x1900 cards are released from ATI . . . x1800 evidently turns out to be a 'stopgap' for ATi.

I definitely think the previous vs current gen split is caused by agp/pcie as well. If you look at the 'superlatives' page on gpureview.com, you can see how it's a clean sweep for ATI in the 'best of AGP' categories, and a clean sweep for NVidia for 'best of PCIe'. I happen to agree with gpureview's analysis for their picks.
