Does the red arrow differ from a red light, i.e. can you turn left on red if you yield or something crazy?

I have a small window in my office. Really just the parking lot and some trees. At least the trees hide the highway.

Lets see, Storm water pond 1, the SRH pond clarifier, the coal yard which serves the 4 coal units here, and the stack for JK Spruce Unit 2.

we're on >100 acres, so lots of trees, landscaped with ponds, walking paths & jogging trails -it's very nice.

We have to watch out for the wild animals though - I almost stepped on a baby rattlesnake last year

"And I said, I don't care if they lay me off either, because I told, I told Bill that if they move my desk one more time, then, then I'm, I'm quitting, I'm going to quit. And, and I told Don too, because they've moved my desk four times already this year, and I used to be over by the window, and I could see the squirrels, and they were married, but then, they switched from the Swingline to the Boston stapler, but I kept my Swingline stapler because it didn't bind up as much, and I kept the staples for the Swingline stapler and it's not okay because if they take my stapler then I'll set the building on fire..."

I hate red arrows.

At most intersections, there is only a normal traffic light. When it's green, you can wait to turn left until it's clear. Some of the busier intersections have a separate green turn arrow, and a yellow one, but no red one. Meaning that when the green arrow is on, you can turn without yielding, and once it turns off, you can still turn, but you have to yield to oncoming traffic.

Some intersections, though, have the red turn arrow. Which means that you can't turn left unless you have a green arrow. It makes sense for intersections with lots of traffic or poor visibility, but there are a lot of them these days (especially in suburban areas which are filled with soccer moms in huge SUVs who can't drive for shit) at intersections that are neither busy nor blind. So even if the traffic to your right is going straight through, and there is no oncoming traffic, you can't go unless the arrow is red.

What is extra infuriating is that the arrows often only last a short period of time, and in many cases they only activate if they detect weight under the turn lane. Meaning there are several intersections I know of where, no matter what, you MUST wait at least half a cycle to turn. At these intersections, the only way to make a left turn without having to stop and wait is if you luck out and come to the arrow right as it's turning green because there is someone else already waiting there. Even then, your chances of making it are slim since, as I mentioned before, the arrows last only a short period of time.
