I have an 89. It's the same body, suspension etc.
Difference? My engine is a 4cyl Mitsubishi turbo. Yours is either a 4 or 6cyl Chrylser POS.

Hmm, Obviously you dont get to east LA much.

To be clear pinto's were ugly cars, and yes a couple blew up when rear ended (not a good thing) However they were reliable cars and many have run over 30 years without much trouble.

Worst car of all time, hardly. Chances of getting you laid in high school.... well in that context they might be the worst car of all time.

Ugliest has to be the Citroen 2CV

as ugly as the 2CV was, it was an engineering masterpiece.

Super-complaint suspension, FWD (ahead of its time in terms of packaging), etc..

umm that 2.2L 4-cyl turbo is a Dodge unit..not a Mitsu.

It was also found in the LeBaron GTC, Daytona, etc..

geno can offer much more insight on those engines.

Well, I would not say chevy cavalier. The 3.1 6cyl was pretty kickarse. The 4bangers sucked though. No power to spare. But as per the worst car ever made, I would have to stick with the yugo, hands down.

Pontiac Fiero was another bad one. You were lucky if you didn't have an engire fire. Yugo's were cheap cars, good for about 80k miles. They weren't terribly bad for cheap transportation, and they got good gas mileage.

My sister's '72 vega takes the cake. less than a month old, she and my bro take their new cars on a trip to vegas loaded with family. Vega blows headgasket due to floating cylinder design, warped head.
7 adult and 3 children finish trip in '72 datsun 510, and pick up repaired vega on the way back.
One year later, she is in an intersection, and when she attempts to select a forward gear, the shifter comes completely loose < like, she could toss it in the back seat>, stranding her in nuetral.
That was just the beginning of the Vega curse

Thou shalt not talk trash about AMC! I have to agree with the K car though. Plymouth Reliant is teh suxors. Also don't forget the Dodge Colt.

Ummm, don't know where you're getting the Colt info from but we had one that we bought used in 94 with under 20 on it for under $5000 and ran it up to around 140 I believe before we dumped it just this last year. I'd say that's a hell of a run for $5000. And the car wasn't that bad to drive either.

Disagree with the "aztek" votes. We test drove one (they gave us $50) and it was a nice ride. Everyone who voted aztek but has not test driven one should hang there head in shame for besmirching the good name of aztek. You can not judge a book by it's cover!

The hell we can't! I don't need to drive one to know that it is a POS. It is a Pontiac after all...nothing more needs to be said. And it's ugly! Just out of morbid curiousity, what are you comparing it to? A lawn tractor?

I owned both a 62 classic and a 62 American, and they were great cars.
I also owned a 60 Corvair and contrary to what Ralph Nader said, it was a good car too. Sure it had it's problems (The gas heater could kill you and the front end could get air-born if you went fast enough, or so "they" say, never happened to me though) all in all I like it very much however.

If I 'member correctly, the Fiesta came first. I remember the boxy little things. Had a teacher in HS that weighed more than the Fiesta that he drove to school everyday. Quite the sight. Great guy, though.

Festiva was the newer edition, I think. Little more pointy noise if my brain serves me correctly.

Don't matter. Don't want one and never had one

Definitely agreed. Even the 2003 model (which I recently raced in my uber-seksi 03 SE-R, and won) is an ugly, low powered, cheesy interior, no headroom, ball-less piece of crap.

lol @ the yugo.

5o bhps @ 5500 RPM, and that's on the sporty yugo. That's just funny.

YUGO.

Only car I know of which Consumer Reports did a review of and immediately suggest that the car be taken off the market!

My brother-in-law had a Vega in the mid 70's, I can remember attempting to adjust the door alignment... only to discover that GM had WELDED the hinges to the body (I guess they didn't intend for them to last that long).

More for the list of shame:

*edit* Trabant (cardboard car? ROFL)
Maverick (a 4 door Pinto)
Aspire (modern incarnation of the Festiva?... it even Aspires to be a better car)

Actually, Ford still uses an evolved form of that chassis for the Mustang. It is much stiffer now but it is still the same platform. The 2005 Mustang will be the first all new Mustang chassis since the Fox chassis (which the Fairmont was built on).
