I'm not counting people who just watch sports on TV and get out of breath walking to the fridge to grab another beer. If you play enough sports you'll get to be at least somewhat athletic. I love playing sports. Watching football is ok, but playing it is great. I'm either at the gym, running, or playing football about 6 days a week.

this thread is hilarious.

"sports is a big waste of time, i don't know how people can sit there and watch sports. OMFG," said the skinny computer geek with 28345128934 hours logged on the forums.

Ah another poorly thought out reply... if the sports watching occured at similar hours as the posting occurs, then you'd have an argument. Need I clarify that one?

wtf? yes please clarify...lets see if you can justify one hell of an idotic post.
k let's.

people have different ways to waste their time. some watch sports. others use their PCs or mess around on the internet (aside from productivity-related use). mmk. how u doin

edit: by the way, the reply you quoted might have needed clarification to begin with.

good call

Most of my family are fairly into sports, but of my friends only one is into sports. In fact, most of the rest despise sports more than I do.

I should point out that I'm talking about normal or team sports. I enjoy paintballing, exercising, hiking, biking, martial arts, and so on.

I find sports dull. I can understand how athletes might enjoy their games but it is beyond me why anyone would want to watch the games, at least games being played by folks not of their gender preference.

I don't watch any sports...too boring, unless it's the superbowl/finals/world series/etc. I love watching good racing, though...eg rally. I like to play soccer and softball/baseball, and mountain bike 2-3 times a week.

So I'd say, who gives a sh!t.

Only sport I enjoy watching is hockey. However the FSU vs. UM football game was pretty damn exciting, especially since my school won!

Nothing weird about not being into sports. It's when you're not into any kind of physical activity and your lifestyle causes the sun to hurt your eyes... then yes, you might be strange.

i personally don't follow any professional sports team, sometimes i'll watch a game or two but i don't set aside time from my day "oh, the game is on at 2" and stop everything to watch it, i enjoy playing sports and being active, but other than that as stated above, not much to be excited about

And God forbid all the man-on-man frolicking get interrupted by a woman's tit falling out of her costume.

Nothing gay about any of that.

Not into sports of any kind really. Though I have occasionally enjoyed watching or playing a game of something here and there, it's really rare.

I'm not exactly a sporty guy or anything. I don't play football, some bball rarely, and I can swim. Sure I suck and all that (say except for swimming because I've done competetive swimming before), and so I'm not all that athletic. I go to the gym to work out once in a while (I'll see if I can get a solid schedule down this semester like last semester), but I'm not the guy to go play sports and all that. I'm actually quite disappointed in myself, but yea...

However, I think we all need to know a little sports. Whether we play or not, know something. I watch basketball (esp during playoffs).. I'm not the best person to critique or know everything, but I know enough to be able to observe. I watch baseball occasionally, and football on rare occasions. I buy season tickets to college football games and I scream my head off so that my voice is gone everytime... I play Fantasy Pick'Em and Fantasy NBA... I watch college football on TV for away games and sometimes to see other teams play. I just find it boring when you can't even talk sports with someone. Just basics you know... Any sport. You can bring 2 bball guys in and they'll talk crazy NBA stuff I can only barely follow, but come on.. whether you're a nerd or not, gain some insight at least.

Hehehe, some yes. I can't play basketball to save my life...at least not competitively. Wasn't much better at soccer. Baseball I was ok in. Football I didn't play until high school (and then just recreationally)...but I was 5'10", 205lbs with almost no body fat and ran like a bat outta hell...do you really think I would have had issues succeeding had I chosen to pursue it? Add to that my individual athletic abilities (some of which I alluded to in my original post), and you're left with the inescapable conclusion that my objections are based on factors other than personal ability.

Like disliking most group/team endeavors, sports related or otherwise. I prefer individual tests.

Like thinking school is about academics...or at the most should allow for health & fitness education.

Like understanding the potential outcomes of constant bombardment to compete.

Like understanding the severe psychological ramifications of exclusion, bias, or behavior contrary to self identity.

Not to mention the generally accepted negative results of violent sports.

No, never mind...far easier to just be like every other sad sorry little jock and decide that the only reason people are different is because they're somehow inferior.

Holy crap... you're worse than the Californian politicians who banned tag playing on playgrounds because it's discriminatory and hurtful towards lazy kids.

You can apply identical logic to anything competitive, and claim that those who don't compete as well are hurt and feel inferior. Guess what? Too damn bad. Maybe those who lost should try harder.

Let me ask you a question- are you one of those people who supports banning games on school playgrounds because it makes fat lazy kids feel inferior? Life is competitive and the best achievers take the glory, it's not about handicapping everyone to the lowest common denominator.

You sound like a smart guy, so let me ask you another question. What if the parents of the dumb kids in class hired good lawyers and demanded that honors and gifted classes be removed? They might suggest that PrinceofWands excels needlessly in class, achieving grades that aren't really necessary to pass. By doing so well, he only makes the less gifted kids feel inferior. Therefore we must remove your gifted/honors classes and stifle your education until the other kids catch up. We're trying to achieve equality, not elitism.

I wouldn't buy that crap either. Let the best excel, regardless of the task.
