otherwise, I don't like guys who don't like sports...I now if a guy doesn't like sports (playing or following) then we wont get along.

THere are just some things that playing and following sports fosters...very big things...

<sigh> You probably don't have that diverse of friends then. Maybe alot of friends but not diverse. My friends are into sports and watching it and talking about it, but I have others that don't talk about that stuff too often. Quite refreshing.

One of them that isn't into sports, is from Korea, and does Judo and Tae-Kwan-Doe so I wouldn't call him "not manly" to his face.

So what if they don't like sports, but rebuild cars every weekend? Are they manly then?

 must make life easy to just put everybody in a few little bins.

FWIW (very little) I lettered in soccer (starting goalie) & track, rode a bike across the country (E->W and N->S), ridden dozens of centuries, played ultimate in college and now, and ski <><> every winter. But I'm not "a man" because I couldn't care less who won the big game last night? Wow - I could've saved myself alot of effort if I had just stayed home and sat on my ass with a beer.

I personally don't "get it". What's the appeal of watching some grossly overpaid team that you have, at best, an accidental geographic connection to play a game that will never have any real impact on me. I guess I'm not good at living vicariously.

But the stereotype definitely exists. I've met women who couldn't believe I don't spend every sunday afternoon in front of the tube and obviously thought I was strange because of it. Whatever - I'm not interested in anybody with those priorities.
you pulled that right out of context. and the is there for a reason, Armitage.

what i said later in the post was that it doesn't matter to me if a person is into sports or not. but if you need to quote me on that bit, fine. whatever. i'm a dick that puts everyone into a neat little pigeon hole. life's easier that way.

My rant diverged a bit from the context of your post - was more about the thread in general. Yours is just the one I happened to hit reply on.

seems like you put some people in a neat little bin yourself.

Yep - that's one I'll take the hit on. If some sports fanatic pigeonholes me as "wierd/geek/gay/every other label in this thread" because I'm not an armchair jock, I put them in the bin labeled "Not Interested".

well this is true about any subject.. if someone were to talk all day about gardening or architecture or art i'm sure you'd get bored too..

i used to think guys that didnt like sports were wierd.. but i've since made lots of friends that werent' interested in sports, and so i dont' think it's wierd anymore.. people like what they like, and i like them for who they are, not what they like

Wow.. You're what they call "crazy". The fact that your life revolves around sports and your poor command of grammar create the impression that you are a BONEHEAD.

Wouldn't this response be /thread?

For numerous reasons!

no, it wouldn't. if it were, we'd all be a bunch of fscking lemmings with the same opinions and likes / dislikes.

edit: if this impacts you negatively in any way....then you have a decision to make whether or not you will let that bother you.

Yep. I LOVE football, but I couldn't give two sh1ts about basketball, baseball, hockey, or pretty much any other sport. Some guys are into it and some aren't. To classify a guy one way or the other is stupid (just like Ryan's other thread).

My BIL is one of those people who can only talk about sports. He can't talk about anything else. I don't think less of him... I just don't talk to him much. Another BIL doesn't like any sports. Period. So what.

I run between 21 and 28 miles a week, lift weights and practice tae kwan do. I have absolutely no interest in pro team sports. I've lived in KC for nine years and I'm still not positive whether the Chiefs play football or baseball. Because of that I'm considered "not into sports". If you think about it, what most men consider "sports" is really just eating and watching TV. Hell, what most people around here consider "life" is just eating and watching TV. Fvck that. Life's too short.

seriously. no.
football players are about as "un-gay" as they come.

that analogy is so off.

What do you think of a girl who isn't as into hygiene as other girls, in other words slobs like most guys?

I would not like that IMHO, but a sporty girl would be cool.
