Hey yeah I just saw this on Newegg too.

I gotta say it specs out just like an Asus P8P67 PRO, but at the price of a regular.

I'd like to see a little more on this board, but I'm definitely throwing it into the mix for consideration. If I can get comfortable that ASRock is a fine enough brand, then I'd go for this over the Asus Pro. Isnt ASRock owned by Asus anyway? Maybe this is their Toyota vs Lexus brand?

Anyone seen a review of this board yet? Does it have the EFI bios and all the other goodies on the Asus?

Asrock only has 1 year warranty compared to 3 years from asus, that's why you're paying less.

Good observation.

Any veterans on here have experience with mobos and warranty? Is this like TVs where "if its gonna fail, its gonna fail in the first year" or is it different?

I guess I need to read the ASUS warranty but is it full 3yrs replacement? ie if my mobo craps out in 2yrs and 9 months, I send it in and they send me a new one? Or is it some prorated thing or a bunch of runaround hassle?

If you look at $30 on $150 that's a steep price JUST for a 2yr longer warranty, although perhaps ASUS build or components are a little better than their ASRock cousins.

Off to read the reviews.....

Out of the 30+ boards that I've used in my life, I've had ONE board fail (Biostar currently used for my Core i5-750 system) and it failed about 30 minutes after I installed Windows (about 1 hour of use total). Did have an old Shuttle board fail due to a bad capacitor but replaced the capacitor myself and no issues. Well, not counting the Dell board that died due to my home being struck by lightning .

Still have an Asrock board running a Core 2 Duo chip that's been running for about 5 years with ZERO issues.

from my experience with asrock p55 extreme, i have been running this board for pretty much one year (bought at clarkdale launch). if i were to go SB, i would definitely pick up the extreme4 with the 2500K.

I went with the AsRock Extreme 4 as well. Not only is it cheaper by almost $40, you also get the USB 3.0 5.25 bay with a SSD dock on it. That alone saved me another $15-20 just on the adapter, or as much as $50 on not having to buy a case with USB 3.0. I also much preferred the location of the SATA ports on the AsRock compared to the ASUS. From what I could tell in pictures, moving the inch over on the AsRock would result in more accessibility when running dual video cards.

Wasn't worth the increase in price for only the increase in warranty as compared to the features I liked about the AsRock. From what I understand, you can purchase an extended warranty on the board too. Not me, I like to gamble!

Sorry for the threadjack, but has anyone looked at (or is considering) the Extreme6?

I just noticed it from the ad on this page a few minutes ago. My only concern would be the 1X slot locations -- I was planning on discrete audio, and the only spot for that here will be in between the GPUs, if I end up with SLI at some point.

I guess I would probably opt for the 4 just for that reason, if there is a general consensus that having any cards between the GPUs isn't a good idea. (?)

Mark... have u considered trying a MSI board?

One of there military cap versions for the functions you do like folding?

I was hearing a lot of excellent things about durability in the board because of the military caps from people outside of MSI.

I had an asus board fail before, i had it for over 2 years, contacted asus for rma and sent them the board, once they got it it took around a week to get i back. Overall i was satisfied with their rma process.

I also ordered me one of those fancy Extreme 4 boards using the HELLO2011 coupon at superbiiz to save $15. Came out right at $150 with shipping so I was pretty happy.

One random question though... why does it have a molex power connection on the mobo? I use a modular PSU and would rather not hook up a molex cable just for that one connector. Anyone know what it's used for and if it's really needed?

Does it matter at all that the ASRock board defaults to 100.4 on the BCLK? I'd rather have it at 100.0 if that's where its meant to be. And some of the step options seem to be less precise in the ASRock Bios vs the ASUS bios (less fine-tuning ability)

I'm a noob, have only owned Dells in the past, just wondering if the specs on the ASRock seem kosher to you guys before I consider ordering it

For overclocking video cards.

Is that to provide extra power above and beyond what the slot, an 8 pin and a 6 pin deliver to my card? Seems kinda strange that it would need any extra power above that. Guess I won't be using that connector.

I really like that part until I realized the only 3.5" external spot on my P180 contains my card reader... bummer. Guess I don't really need those silly card readers anymore

Just ordered this board, a 2500k, and 2x2gb 1600mhz Ripjaws. The fact that I can continue to use my old s775 Scythe Mine cooler made it a no brainer.

Mark I noticed on another thread that you're having BSOD issues with the ASRock.

I haven't ordered anything yet, but interested in how others are seeing this board. I like the "value proposition" here but if its gonna be a lemon board, I'll go ASUS P8P67 Pro or Regular and be done with it.
