Mark I noticed on another thread that you're having BSOD issues with the ASRock.

I haven't ordered anything yet, but interested in how others are seeing this board. I like the "value proposition" here but if its gonna be a lemon board, I'll go ASUS P8P67 Pro or Regular and be done with it.

Its not a lemon board, btw you do know there are some issues ie boot/bios issues with the Asus board?..go over to HardOCP forums for the issues or OCuK.

Also nice P67 roundup here including Extreme4 http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/p67-motherboard-roundup-lga-1155-sandy-bridge,review-32095.html .

I would go as far to say Asrock,MSI,Gigabyte are having a lot less issues then Asus at the moment.

Yeah I saw that ASUS thing re: memory and clearing CMOS and stuff......great.....

Maybe its not bad to sit back a few days and read the threads and see what patterns emerge as others experience these issues

Ok, got some questions. I'm running my 2500k on the extreme 4 at 4.0 @ 1.3. I picked 1.3 just for the heck of it as it seemed like a good voltage. On this board the voltage settings somewhat confuse me as if I leave them on auto, the cpu ramps up to 1.38 at 4.0 and 100% load. However, if I lock them in place then they never drop (even when the cpu underclocks) so that means I'm constantly running higher voltage through my cpu... is that ok?

What do you guys recommend in pushing this overclock farther? Just keep increasing the multiplier and running the intel burn test, or something else, to see if it crashes? Do people still use prime as a good gauge?

Spike - how do you like the board in general (build quality, features, bios, etc)?

I think I'm really leaning to this one vs Asus P8P67 or P8P67 Pro. Lots of features for better price.

Just trying to get as many informed opinions as I can before I choose

Doesn't this board only have 1 year warranty?

Correct, you get all the features of the Asus pro for $30 less but with 2 years less warranty.

I'm now noticing that at 4.4 during the intel burn test my multiplier drops... am I hitting some kind of wattage max for the cpu?

What BIOS are you using?..I notice Asrock have dropped the 1.40 BIOS from their website, maybe they found a problem with it?

Hard to believe that the ASR is "underpowered" b/c SB doesn't need crazy voltage to OC. But I see that ASR only goes up to 1.52V while Asus goes to 1.8 or something.

Then again, I ain't taking it past 1.35 until we've had more info. I'm not going to fry a $300 purchase just for e-peen honors

Using bios 1.1 I was able to overcome the issue by upping my long load power max to 110w like anand did in his review. Now it seems to be stable at 4.4 and 1.28.

Seems like its 2 years now according to newegg, if they would of had that upon launch i would of purchased this mobo, but since it was labelled as 1 year i didn't. Guess asrock is learning from its mistakes.

1.1 BIOS?..That's weird only shows 1.30 BIOS as first release on their website for Extreme4 http://www.asrock.com/mb/download.asp?Model=P67 Extreme4 .

Yeah, mark said he could only find 1.3 on the site, guess they don't list the shipping BIOS for whatever reason.

I usually don't flash the BIOS unless I run into a problem. If my chip really is stable with at 44x running 1.28v then I'm happy with that and probably won't flash it.

I flashed with the 1.4 bios, then failed to get windows 7 to boot, needed to reset sata to ide compatible. Then could not get the ethernet port to be discoverable in devices(tried to disable then re-enable in bios with no effect). Uninstalling XfastUSB/disableing usb 3.0 in bios got my lan back. may try enabling usb 3.0 again to see if only the xfastusb was the cause.

My original 1.1 bios had no issues. I'm glad it didn't ship with 1.4 as I would of assumed the board was faulty!

1.3 appears to be the best version though I'm leaving mine at 1.1 until I find a reason to change it.

I'm killing the xfast USB utility. With it on I was having problems with my USB 3.0 stick but as soon as I turned if off it was flying. I'll deal with slower 2.0 speeds...

I'm on the factory 1.1 BIOS and my most solid OC is using the auto OC set to 4.4 and setting the vcore to 1.25v.

I tried to do a more manual OC at 4.5GHz an dI had the same issue as you Spike with the frequesncy dropping. I might try to adjust the long duration thingy like you mentioned but dont expect much more than the 4.4 and should prob just leave it alone before I break something!

I am running ext4 on 1.40 bios. Everything is fine, got it run at 5.3g with 1.48vcore (1.465 in bios).

Jeezum, you're like Chuck Yeager in the Right Stuff - pushing those limits

Glad you're doing it to help the rest of us who are voltage wusses and scared about frying new SBs - once we get the all-clear from you after a few weeks, we can wade into the deeper water

Sorry, I meant the best version available on the website (1.1 was not there last I looked and 1.4 had some problems). I'm still using 1.1 because it works, except the included utility is not reading my mb sensor correctly, and I'm too lazy to flash it if I'm having no issues.

Does the ASR Ext 4 have Dual Bios? (Do the new Asuses?) If you flash up to 1.3 or 1.4 from the 1.1 that it comes with, can you ever return to 1.1?

I got the Rosewill Challenger case, and I believe 2 of the 3 fans just have the big Molex power connectors. Does this mean I should plug those into the PSU directly, and I guess they just run at full power whenever the computer is on?

Or am I supposed to get some sort of a Molex to smaller 3 or 4-pin adaptor and plug them into the mobo headers?

I guess as long as the fans are pretty quiet I don't care if they are adjusting their speed or just running flat out......and I know 1 of the 3 fans can go into the mobo as it is now (it has the small header).

From the pics it looks like the ASRock has 1 "big" molex power connector listed as one of the CHA FAN (chassis fans).....if I use that for one of my fans do you know if it will auto-adjust?

Those of you who have the ASRock - any guidance on best way to hook up multiple fans?
