Hi guys. I just recently took up PC building and I decided to build a gaming computer. What do you think of this build?
First of all, here is some general info
1-I will mainly be using this PC for gaming and as a TV tuner. Of course, it will be used by others in my family as well, so basic operations like using the internet, video streaming, possibly sound editing, will be used on a daily basis too.
2-My budget is at max, 3000$, but I would prefer to stay at the 2600'ish range, as I will probably end up upgrading when cheaper better components come out
3-I will be buying my parts from Newegg.com in the US.
4-I do not have a brand preference, as long as all of my parts work together and are reliable I am fine.
5-I will unlikely be using any of my current parts
6-I have not read many similar threads, but am likely to.
7-I plan on overclocking to 4.0GHz at least
8-I plan on gaming at 1920x1080 native resolution
9-I plan on building it one to two weeks after I release this thread
10-Please say whatever you think about my build be it good or bad, just please have it be helpful information.

Alright there has been a change of plans. I'm switching to intel. THe changed specs are underlined.

i'd go with the i7 option (i-950 / X58 / 6GB DDR1600). Plus change the VG to dual 6870s (this is a gaming machine afterall).

For that kind of budget I would drop the amd CPU and go intel and obviously ditch that GPU.

Considering how much you're spending, I would go with an Intel build instead. 5770 xfire seems pointless. You could pick a 6870 and be done with it.

Mosox's build looks good, but I'd swap the mobo out for GIGABYTE GA-P55-USB3 - $105, or ASUS SABERTOOTH 55i for xfire/SLI - $150 ($130 AR).

This looks pretty good. The 875K is nice for overclocking, but I dunno if it is $100 nice. Though the OP does have a $3k budget.

Single graphics card. Keep it simple for a family computer, especially if it's your first build.

A single 6870 should fit the bill, at least initially. If it's going to be a family computer and used for TV as well I'd put the extra cash into a larger monitor.
