I've been using this one and have absolutely no complaints in the 5+ years I've had mine. Although, mine has a blue back-light, but it seems that model no longer exists as I've only seen the green back-light ones available.

As for the one you linked, I've never heard of Cougar and for that price, I'm amazed it doesn't have any programmable macro keys or n-key roll-over (which is pretty important for gaming).

I wish the Steelseries still made the Merc Stealths... I love the secondary keypad on the left side for WASD and numbers.

I have a Cherry MX Red at home that I game with and a Cherry MX Brown at work that I type with. Both are great switches. Very similar feel to them (im a heavy typer i've learned) so hard to pick a fav but can't really go wrong with either of them. I do like the tactile click of the browns, but the reds are nice for key mashing.

The Logitech G710 (non plus) regularly goes for $60 on sale. I have seen them for $50 once or twice and once for $40 at fry's b&m during the holidays.

I use browns because I share the same keyboard between gaming and software development. From what I've read the reds aren't as good for office use.

Another vote for browns. I have tried them all, and the browns were most definitely the best if you do any kind of typing on that keyboard. Being able to feel when the switches activate is also very useful when playing games, allowing you to do very accurate hover repeats while cutting down on the movement of your finger on the key.

If you want browns get the g710+ I have it. Nice keyboard. Goes around that price pretty often.

Say what you want about apple but the apple keyboard is the best keyboard. I use it for my game rig. Awesome.

They have the merc stealth on ebay but it's expensive, about $200 mostly.

Same goes for Amazon... is there any other keyboard similar to it? Mine still works, except for a few keys no longer are functional (it got wet once)

While I do like my G710+, I'vve had incredibly bad luck with them. I paid for the extended warranty at Best Buy and within 1 1/2 years I've had to take 2 back to get replacements. My 3rd one right now the backlight's acting up, sometimes keys won't light up at all, and other times they flicker. So it looks like I'm about to take it back for a 4th. I haven't Googled so maybe it's just my dumb luck lol.

Not just you. There's plenty of people out there who've had issues with them. They're great and sometimes you get lucky getting a good one. Just hit or miss I guess...

Well I'm super glad I bought it @ BB and paid $15 for the extended warranty. Even with how good Logitech is with RMA'ing, I couldn't imagine how much hassle it would have been to have to ship it off to get another one every 4 months. Good thing about BB, I take it back and tell them it doesn't work. Without them even testing it they tell me to go get another and I'm in and out of the store in 5 minutes tops. They'll give me credit, so maybe I should look at the Corsair boards there.

So just change the keys to something else. I've never used WASD. After playing Unreal Tournament with the arrow keys, I moved onto other FPS games that needed more keys and ultimately I went with TFGH and have never looked back. Using TFGH I have the entire keyboard (letters, numbers, and most alt keys) within reach.

There's no point in paying extra for a specialized keyboard when you can just change your keybindings.

it's not about which keys to use it's the actual design of the gaming keypad part of the keyboard. the ergonomics were entirely different for all the keys you use to game with.

In that very uncomfortable place of wanting an explanation to deny it and not wanting one that might confirm it.

LOL, apartment got water damage from the ceiling. It got wet enough to stop some of the keys from working (up arrow and minus key).

Gaming with it rocked, but doing regular typing was a pain.

Went to Best Buy yesterday to see if they had any more of those G710+. They were out of stock, but they did have the Lenovo Y Mechanical Gaming keyboard for $45. Bought it to replace my old Saitek EclipseII. Excellent price, especially for a mechanical keyboard.
