As you can see my weakest links are my sound card (audigy update in the works as well) and my PSU. I will focus on my PSU for an upgrade this time. I want something that will last me for a LONG time.

What do you think of this PSU?

I am think of the 430 watt version because it can save me some money and a QUALITY PSU can handle a lot right?

Comments please

I like anything in the TruPower series. Even their value series is very impressive. I have two of their 430w'ers myself, but really any of the top brands will do, Antec, Enermax, PC Power&Cooling, ThermalTake, Soyo, etc..

The thing is that the enermax has soooooooooo much features and is that 12V thing a REAL CONCERN? I mean what real life situation would benefit from an 18A for 12v+ ?

I know antec is great but the enermax is feature packed ya know

I recommend the Thermaltake line of PSU's. Got 2 here performing very well..... Anandtech's PSU review seemed to rate them pretty highly as well.

Do look into Fortron's PSUs too.. they seem to be favored around here plus it's pretty cheap from Newegg.

What do you buy the PSU to do? Give you features or POWER? The rails are the most important.

Have you looked at this?

Someone on this board showed me this brand of PSU, picked one of these up. Very solid PSU IMHO.
Of course, if you have the money, you can't go wrong with antec/TT PSU's

Your current PS is probably fine anyway, but one thing that (it seems) everyone overlooked about the first PS is that it can put out over 18A on the +12V line. Notice that it has two +12 rails. The manufacturer claims they are "independent," but that it not entirely true. Together, they put out up to 20A (MAX), according to the over current protection section of the datasheet.

The only real advantage of buying the 430W supply over, say, the 330W model is for more 5V and 3.3V power. Since 12V1 + 12V2 is already limited to 20A, and 12V1 and 12V2 for the 330W model adds to 23A, the 430W model is basically a waste - unless you have alot of 5V and 3.3V periphrials, which it appears that you don't. The 430W model does have a little more grunt @12V if you are maxing out 5V and 3.3V, but in order to use it, you would need to draw over 160W @ 5V and 3.3V, which seems unlikely.

So the bottom line is, assuming that this company has a decent reputation, the 330W version actually offers quite a bit of 12V power (20A of current as much as the Antect True 430), assuming you use less than 160W on the 5V and 3.3V rails, and it may be a good value.

I have an Antec True380S (Sonata version), Allied 300W, and Fortron 350W and they're all good units.

"Coolergiant Computers, Inc., is the subsidiary of Enermax Technology Corporation in Taiwan. Our ultimate goal here in the U. S. is to provide a total customer satisfaction to our valuable customers in Northern America"

I went there from a direct link at ENERMAX website. Enermax sells those PSU's. Go to Enermax website and you look under products-PSU-NEW and you will see the new offerings from ENERMAX/coolergiant.

GOUV I can't thank you enough You are the reason I posted here because its feedback like that I want to hear. I was always impartial to enermax/coolergiant for the features and now you gave me a low down on the performance.

As you can see I don't own any DVD's or 2 or more hard drives etc. BUT I will upgrade in the future so the 430watt one will stay with me until it dies. I am thinking about the future as well so I don't mind spending a little extra.

OK so there you have it folks.......the PSU has ample power if need be, made by a subsidiary of Enermax, full of features and cool as hell WE have a winner!!! ding!!! ding!!
