IMO if was at all possible one-on-one teaching would be optimal because there is an amount of trust and friendship that can develop whereas in the current situation its a ratio of at least 20-1 or more. Most normal children can't possibly expect to understand what is being taught in the general way that it is. there isn't enough time for the individual tutoring that should be available. Especially now that things that were being taught in sixth grade 10 years ago are now being taught to eighth graders. Something isn't right. I've also heard they made the SAT and ACT's a little easier as well but I can't confirm this. Shouldn't we be demanding more from our education system than that? I know that there are plenty of kids out there who do well and have the parents to promote it but not everyone else does. Everyone in here has a teacher that had a positive effect on them in some way or another that made them strive to do better or help with a problem. I know I did. The goal of the education system should be to lower the number of likely Jerry Springer guests.
I posted this per a discussion that I had at work with a few people and they, for the most part, agreed with me. I know this goes much more in depth but I'm strapped for time and just wanted to get the discussion going. I also realize the expense and unlikelyhood of my suggestion but I was thinking best case scenario.
