They have eaten through my microphone cord 3 times now...each time I just splice it and attach it again, but I dont want them to get at something more delicate, or with power running through it...I have networking cable velcro tape to bind it all together, but they pull the little cords out!

What do you guys use ? I can throw up a picture if that helps.

I used a flick to the nose or a spray bottle full of water to keep the cats in check, now I don't have to worry about them

I throw my cats across the room at the wall, when they chew on my wires, or maybe thats the electricity that does that.

I'd love cats, but everytime I think about getting some, this is what I worry about. I thought about lock my "important stuff" room, and then I realized if I didn't forget to close the door, someone else would. Personally, I'd start kicking if they chewed my wires...

gf said I cant do that :/

what cable managers capt?

I don't want to coat my wires with anything....they would like it, guaranteed! plus I don't want my shit sticky.

They only chew it when I am sitting at the computer desk...which means they want attention, but im not willing to do it! its game time when im at the poot ;/

I sometimes lock them in the bathroom, but I hate having to do that...

wow, my cat used to do the same thing ....

She leaves alone all the wires in the house except for the mic/headset cable ......
after 2 different mic's and splicing wires multiple times I gave up and switched to USB ...
I stuck a USB hub on my desk and run a USB cable along the back of my desk .... the cable never moves or attracts her attention ... so it has stayed "safe" from her thus far.

My headset connects to the USB hub, and I just leave the extra length of cable on the desk .. no cables hanging down tempting the kitty ... no chewed cables .... so far so good .....

If I catch her eyeing or messing with the cable ... then the next step is 1.) some type of cable management (I'm thinking PVC pipe behind the PC and desk ... where I can run monitor, printer, USB, second monitor, printer and monitor power cables, keyboard, mouse, etc from on the desk down to the PC and where I have my UPS and surge protectors ...
2.) some bitter apple spray ... (I know you don't want to use it, but I've read lots of things about how it actually really works ....)

I'd have thought that after they chewed through the first one the problem would have been solved.

Don't they sell products that are designed to be sprayed on furniture so cats are less attracted to scratch/bite it? I would try a combination of that plus buy them a scratching post and a couple toys. Put a little catnip on the toys and scratching post for a week or two so their attention is on that. Cats are creatures of habit so if they stick to the toys and the post for a while then they will probably continue to do so with or without the catnip.

Likewise, I am actually looking for some cable trays that attach to the underside of a desk so that my dog stops running into them all. I haven't seen anything good yet.

Just take the line from that low power adapter and spiral it all around the other cables, that will teach them. If that doesn't do it, put some wire mesh back there to wrap the cables or reduce access to the cable area.

As far as cable management to prevent our cats from messing with my computers I use a door. Try as they might they have not yet cracked the door knob problem.

Give the kittens something to chew. They're still breaking teeth, that have a need to chew. They will grow out of it, but for now, they need to chew.

I just wipe them with tobasco, one lick and they'll never chew a cord again. It broke mine of eating power cords. How he never got zapped is beyond me.
