It's like all the Linux users that come out of the woodwork whenever there's a new Windows bug. Sometimes I wonder if the only reason they use it is so they can lord it over those who don't

then im not going to bother with it.
with foo_tunes, you could make it look like itunes or some other things, i just prefer columns_UI look. most times i am not looking at the player itself anyway.

maybe and probably to a point

Can Foobar read ID3v2 yet? Don't tell me it needs a plugin
you mean something like this? it came with foobar since as long as i remember....

bah, you edited your post too each his own, i dont have that problem plus even if i did it wouldnt be anything as serious as winamp's inability to load cuesheet's properly.

Foobar has got to be the least user-friendly player I have ever come across. Do they actually expect me to fiddle around with their proprietary language and code just so I can customize my Title Formatting? Yeah, I've got better things to do with my time. The crappy interface is a shame too, because otherwise Foobar2000 is quite advanced and has very sweet audio playback as well as support for an endless number of audio file types.

i hope you checked out my link on columns_UI .fcs files. its not like everyone makes his own winamp skins either.

Hmm, it didn't come with my installation. Odd that it wouldn't come as default, ID3v1 is hopelessly out of date now.

I'll be the first to admit that Foobar has some great features, and it's certainly the more powerful program. I just dislike its UI. The included volume control is also ridiculous in my opinion, but that's not a huge issue. I think they're both great players and I wouldn't bag either one... that I'll save for the WMP users

Can you explain the Winamp cuesheet problem?

go with the special version, the whole package is 2.37mb anyway.

i will quote someone else cuz i obviously suck at paraphrasing.
Foobar all the way. I was skeptical making the switch at first, but I havent looked back since. One of my favorite "features" is foobar's ability to properly load cuesheet's natively without any problem. With winamp, if you have a vbr mp3, flac, etc, the cuesheet plugin cant load it thanks to some ingenious incompatibility with the way winamp reads the files in order to quickly fast forward (the creator of the plugin has more info on his website, which I dont feel like looking for )

No, you missed the whole point. its about the que sheets not functioning right, not files not playing. now that you mentioned it, FLAC sounds worse on winamp due to inferior plugin; this is rather important as FLAC is the codec of choice for many of us including me (if you rip stuff on your own and you dont use flac you deserve an explanation)

and about me useing VBR, i am way to poor to afford the space put 7500 MP3s in FLAC format, if you would like to donate to me lots of $$$ or big HDDs ill be glad to do that, but untill then mp3s work fine

WinAmp ver. 2.1 from OldVersion.com And the stately Winamp 5.2 when I'm feelin' fancy.

Portability wise, my cheapo-but-trusty iRock 830.

that's the point. if you don't use that feature, it doesn't matter if your audio player handles it.

how much storage do you need for that many mp3s? going lossless will require about 3-4 times in storage. do you actually listen to all of those? burn some of them you dont listen too often on dvds. better yet, hdd's are dirt cheap these days : i just picked up a WD120gb for ~$35 AR with tax and all. on that hdd, i could fit about 300CDs. with two of those drives, i wouldnt need any more storage for music, for a while anyway.

i thought i was a cheap @$$, but you beat me by a long shot
