I'm probably going to be getting about 1000 back this year. I might get a laptop for school in Sept with it. The one I have now is basically unusable.

Nice! Again why such a large return? What are you getting?
i have $20 a week extra taken out. i already bought the stuff i wanted to get namely a sandy bridge system plus i am getting a second 6950 to run crossfire for the first time. was going to get a 7950 if the price was reasonable but from what i am seeing they are going to be $450 or thereabouts. to much for me, i will grab a used 6950 from the for sale\trade forum for about $200

Tax rebates are interest free loans to the government. I try and owe taxes every year.

Have not had one for some years now. In the past I would go for a nice dinner then put anything leftover in the bank.

Havent had a job in 3 years.

When I did, my refund was usually pocket change or in rare cases, just enough to make my wallet feel full.

Yeah, but the rebate for part time students is shit. Not even enough to cover my books for the year.
And school expenses are only a deduction, not free money. Since I didnt pay taxes (no income) I still dont get anything back. Ditto my medical expenses (which were probably like 10 grand in 2011).

Direct deposit into our general checking account. A little while alter, all of a sudden we have more money!

It is usually not that much, though.

Haven't had one in 20 some odd years. I am self employed and I make sure the criminals in DC only get the minimal and draw it out as long as legal. It always costs me a couple grand in April but it is better than letting the crooks get an interest free loan like most of the suckers out there.

I will probably owe this year. If I do get a refund, though, it will go in our cruise piggy bank.

Straight to the savings account. Don't think I'll get one this year. I haven't put much money in RRSPs and my income was higher the past year than the year before. Even then, it was pretty low.

Medical expenses being mostly medication costs or other costs? Either way you guys are served SOOooo poorly for healthcare down there in the US

Yeah I spent 7500 on that hospital visit and they didnt really do anything, didnt get seen by an actual doctor, and they damn sure didnt fix my problem.
I'm not saying government control of our healthcare is the solution, but DAMN they are sure setting themselves up for massive legislation.

I can't believe it took almost 8 hours for the first "I don't give the government an interest free loan" troll to show up.

I try to set it up so I get a little back, just so I don't owe anything. I put whatever I do get back into the bank.

Well the argument in support of not paying before something is due is sound anyway.
i think of it this way, if say you would take that money and put it into savings account instead of paying it in taxes. they tax your savings account on the return, correct?? so they get you either way
