What does LDT do exactly???

Just a quick question, I have a mobo called MSI K8N Neo platinum and in bios my LDT is set at 1X, I was thinking shouldn't this atleast be 5x to get it to 800 instead of 200. Also I have an FSB of 215 so if I set it to 5x then its too much(5*215 = over 1000) so would it be safe to set it at 4x?

I read that its safe up to 1000 but even MSI lists this mobo as only 800HTT?? And if I set it at 860 by setting an LDT of 4x does this affect other stuff like FSB or memory, will they go up after I set a higher LDT?

you have a skt 754 mobo, that will support 1600MT at its highest, this is 200 x 4 which = 800HT, AMD sees it as duplex so thats why they see it as 1600 Mt (million Transfers a seccond), so in your case it is best to keep it around 800, unlike skt939 which is 1000HT so that would be 5x200..

So just use your math and keep the HT below 800 and you'll be fine ...

yeah if you have set the HTT (commonly known as FSB) to 215 and use the 3x LDT multi that will be fine as that = 645 which is below the 800 mark, you could possibily try setting it to x4 as that is only 60 over the stock 800 and some mobos are able to handle the higher settings but it is not really beneficial as you wont really see any improvement in performance, but you may find that if you try this it may not boot, and in that case you would have to reset the CMOS...

There's something I don't quite understand, I been trying to find the max of my FSB and I decided to take 241 since it was running 100% stable. I put the mem divider on 166 so that would mean my DDR400 would be running at 200.03Mhz right(241*0.83=200.03). I set the multiplier to x10 to get an effective clock of 2410Mhz on my 3400+ clawhammer but when I boot now it lists my memory as being DDR300 running at 200Mhz??? How in the hell does he come up with that DDR300??

Also have a question revolving FSB, is a higher FSB allways better, so for example is,

280FSB * 9 = ~2500Mhz(not taking in effect thats its actually a little more)

better than,

250FSB * 10 = 2500Mhz

or is it the same result, what should i opt for?? Does it get you a higher throughput cuz your FSB is higher I dunno?

EDIT : Tried going 250 on my FSB and a multi of 10 and I can't even get into windows on that, 245 won't work either? So what to do, I wanna hit 2500Mhz but its looking like my cap is 241 My CPU voltage is still default 1.472V, could this be the cause this is happening? I could up the multi and lower the FSB, maybe 230x11= 2530 but here I run into problems of only having following dividers,

200, 183, 166, 133 and 100 and when I run it at 183 my mem will only be running at 190.9Mhz which is 9.1Mhz under the DDR400 spec? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
