Gee, there's an INTELLIGENT remark.

And since I'm not in the mood to bite, on an OBVIOUSLY trolling remark...I'll just answer that with a 'whatever'.

Full retail price, whatever that happens to be. It would probably be cheaper to buy one from Walmart or DeepDiscount and send that in than to pay netflix for it.

It IS an intelligent remark. I've owned several dogs in my lifetime and none of them had problems chewing on things that weren't designated "chewies."

It's a simple thing to correct, especially for puppies. Train your damn dog.

If you're wondering why I'm so sore about it, it's because I've seen countless dogs abandoned or given up to shelters because of "behavioral issues" which were subsequently corrected with minimal effort.

Go to your netflix queue

Click "Report a problem" located next to the movie in your queue

Select "I have lost or damaged a DVD and would like to pay for it"

They will charge you $20 plus tax. Thats what it was going to charge me for a movie, but it might be different. Either way, it will tell you how much it's going to charge before it charges you the money.

I would honestly call them up and explain what happened. Since they are paying for the license they might say just send us the damaged disk. They might only charge you a buck or 2 because they might just be able to replace it since they own the license.

Kinda like when a console game gets damaged.

They charged me $20 for a broken dvd... I don't know if that's the norm.. I suggest picking it up from a local store, watching it and then mailing it back.. Nothing ethically wrong with that.. Or just don't take any action at all - just rent one less movie a time I had to do that since I lost a dvd and was broke...

No, actually it's an IGNORANT and PRESUMPTUOUS remark. Our pup was adopted from a shelter, and we have NO INTENTION of EVER giving him up...We don't blame him for going midieval on that DVD, it's obvious we need to find out why he's doing it and remedy the problem.

Your problems with people abandoning their pets, for whatever reasons, are YOUR problems. Don't point that nasty attitude at me because you IGNORANTLY assumed I'm one of them.

LOL!

I think thats so idiotic. They would actually prefer you did that anyways, because eventually you're going to pay for that lost DVD, and in the meantime, you're only getting 2 DVDs each time and not 3. So, you're losing the value of your 20 bucks a month, and not only that, but you're going to pay for the lost DVD anyways.

TIME TO TURN IT UP A NOTCH!

BAN!

I'm curious now too, and want to know what they charge. I used NF back when it was new, and still cheap ($20/month, 6 dvd's at a time). Was a good service, then got popular and was hard to get good, new movies.

But yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if they charge like vid stores do. Make an "anonymous" call to see how much. If it's high, then just go buy a new one for cheap and replace it. If it's reasonable, then it may be easiest owning up to it with them. Who knows, they may not make a big deal out of it and have you send it to them if you're honest.

Tell them it came...

and then your dog chewed it up.

I would just go buy it and send them the new one.

I would tell them what happened or find out online if you can pay for it. I'm sure they have this happen from time to time. I would NOT recommend buying a new one and sending as they may not accept it and then you'll have to buy one anyway. Just face up to the problem like a man, admit an accident happened, and hope for mercy from them

Blah blah blah, train your dog, problem solved, end of story. I'm not the one getting bent out of shape about everything.

P.S. You realized that netflix has a number to call with questions, right?
Also, their email tech support is impeccable. You can usually get a response within 24 hours if not 24 minutes.

Hah, I know it's idiotic... I just didn't have any spare cash and I wasn't really watching many movies that month... I eventually came clean and paid the fee ...

What's annoying is that this took my 30 seconds to dig up on their site.. maybe you jus wanted to share your story about your DVD eating dog

This option allows you to pay for a DVD that has been damaged or lost by you, as opposed to the postal service. This option is not for buying DVDs.

? By clicking the Pay for It button below, your credit card on file will be charged $20 plus tax. The movie will be displayed as Paid For on the Rental Activity page.

Call Netflix and ask them what to do without giving them your account information. They will either say pay or replace. Ask for the price one would pay. Then decide whether it would be more cost-effective to pay or replace.

On the one hand you could choose to call the company and ask what the correct course of action is.
On the other hand you could choose not to return it and take advantage of a loophoe in the system.

How you choose to act should not be predicated by what an internet community or its moderators see as correct action.

No kidding. This thread should be locked up now.

I started reading through this and was alarmed at all the REALLY REALLY bad advice being doled out.

Good to see some vacations for these folks.
