what does "pentium 4 ready" mean? ANSWERED-- NOW, what does P4 "APPROVED" mean?

i never built a system using pentium 4 CPU-- but will soon.. i built an athlon XP system....

any recommendation on a case for pentium 4? i understand there's some special power supply?

what does pentium 4 ready mean?? and when i go to newegg.com and look to buy a case, i assume i am to make sure that somewhere it says "pentium 4 ready" in the case description.

My next question-- what does P4 "APPROVED" mean? I see some case are P4 "READY" and some case are P4 "Approved"? Any difference???

P4 ready means the power supply has those extra plugs that plug into a P4 mobo to supply the chip with extra power. Look at the last pic on this page for an illustration.

I've never built a P4 system, so I dont know how a 7237 will suffice, but I'd rather go with an Antec SX830 or something like that.

yes its the psu, and the case has extra holes for bolting the heat sink though the mobo to the case

I know the P4 I am buliding soon (also my first). I am going to use a case w/ 400 watt power supply seems to be a safer bet.

P4 Approved means Intel has examined and approved the case for a P4, and recommends it for such a system. Its a good thing
