After deciding that 2 x Samsung 830 128GB's in RAID0 was appreciably no faster than a single 128GB, I decided to go back to one drive. Normally I install Windows using the MSAHCI driver and then install the RST package (iata_enu.exe) afterwards. I have never had a problem with this method but I have always wondered what the difference was between the two. When in AHCI mode on a single SSD, the RST GUI is pretty pointless. Anyway, I loaded the latest RST F6 driver during Windows installation and then setup the rest of my system. "Intel(R) Desktop/Workstation/Server Express Chipset SATA AHCI Controller" was present under "IDE ATA/ATAPI" running 11.2.0.1006 but the system felt slower. I ran CDM and got this:
These are pants and suggested it was running on SATA 3Gbps. I installed the RST package, rebooted twice and re-ran CDM:
More like it.
So my question is, what does the package do that the F6 driver files doesn't?
All done using Windows 7 x64 on below system
