I am an adrenaline junkie. When I need a fix, I hop on the 'busa and go for a spin.

I used to play Jedi Knight on The Zone.

FFM was my clan. On The Zone, you're supposed to tag your clan name on before your username when you get a new clan. Therefore, you get FFMChaos, FFMBriar, FFMSith, etc. I was playing under another name, though. When it came about that only two people in the clan could beat me at the game (the two that started the clan), I was given a new name to fit my playing style. Cobalt, like the rock, is a cold, hard, dark bastard of a character who kills enemies without mercy or remorse.

Since it was given to me, I've used it for practically everything since.

This is a name I have been using for as long as I can remember. Usually in online games and stuff, but I started using it about 12 years ago when I started playing AD&D. Kinda just stuck after that..

<< ...like why did you choose your alias? Most people have some reason or story attached to it so tell me yours. There are some wacky ones out there I'm curious about. >>

You tell me yours and I'll tell you mine!

Sciencetoy dot com was the cool business I was raising money to start up, back when. Had a pretty good beginning website, but didn't make enough to keep it going, and I wasn't successful at raising the bucko's needed to launch big.

Lots of fun though going thru the pitch meetings and the presentations and all that. I still have a few prospectuses in the back room in case anyone has some spare cash to invest.

I used to post here sometimes under add-a-cat, but I lost that name in the changeover etc. Add-a-cat was my production company back when I used to produce music, I was filling out legal forms to rent the Fillmore East and needed a unique name, someone said use your dog's name, I said my dog died, so they said hell, add a cat. Been using it ever since, and it's still unique.

Juniper is a berry I think.

I kept seeing the name Juniper some time ago, and the name stuck in my head. So I adopted the nick

Tenchi Muyo (the first OAV series mind you) was the first anime series I ever saw in entirety and for a while, I thought it was pretty cool. Then I tried to sign up for a netaddress nick and 'tenchi' was taken but not 'tenchim' so that kind fo stuck.

Then came the television series, the second series, the movies, the huge merchandising movement and I just moved away from that. heh.

I was a Star Wars nerd and a walking dictionary who won all the school spelling bees back when I was yea high. SO people started calling me yoda. 291 is the last 3 numbers on my library card. Normally, I go by the name hypernerd, but sometimes, I want just a smidge of inconspicuousness....yoda+library card number = not too obviously a nerd.

My handle came from various sources. Mad Max movies is one of the sources, but the main influent is my love for simple technology (my friends use to call me MacGyver because I could fix almost anything with little on hand).

<--- actual masterless samurai who will one day return to avenge his slain master.

...Pbbbbt.

Nah, I've always had Ronin as a handle. I've got personal reasons for that one.

RoninRXN comes from the brand of racing, car tuning and car cosmetic products I produce and will be a sticker on all the cars that come out of my garage soon.

There's a "guru engineer" who I worked with a while back with the last name of Munch...since we were similar in many ways some the other guys nicknamed me "miniMUNCH" cause I was smart like Mr. Munch. Also, Mr. Munch is about 6'4"...I'm about 6'1" or so...so I'm a little shorter than him too.

I am often paged over the intercom by my friends, boss, or other directors/VP's at work as "miniMUNCH". That's okay though...they all have nicknames too: Boss Hog (Dukes of Hazard), Rosco Beeko Train (DoH), Bosley, and Johnny Quest (was the engineering department's "gopher" for a while).

Ehm.

tech·no (tek-no)
n.
Any of various styles of dance music characterized by electronic sounds and a high-energy, rhythmic beat.

geek (gek)
n. Slang

1. A person regarded as foolish, inept, or clumsy.
2. A person who is single-minded or accomplished in scientific or technical pursuits but is felt to be socially inept. (not so much in my case...)
3. A carnival performer whose show consists of bizarre acts, such as biting the head off a live chicken.

I don't know why I chose it. I thought it was sorta-kinda cute, I like electronic and technology, and I'm enjoy (sometimes) geeky things.

Pal (Paul in Hungarian) is my first name, and Palek is one of the many dozens of nicknames for Pal. I should have called myself SECAM. (I wonder if anyone will get that...)
