Thought it would be interesting to see how people came up with their forum nicknames.

-Why did you pick it and what does it mean?

-How long have you been using it?

-Do you use the same nickname on every forum you visit?

I'll start!

-Why did you pick it and what does it mean?

My nick is taken from the George R.R. Martin series A Song of Ice and Fire. There is a character named Dolorous Ed that I find really amusing and my first name is Dave.

-How long have you been using it?

About 2 years now.

-Do you use the same nickname on every forum you visit?

No. Some of the forums I visit I've been on for years. I also go by dpf1978, Zaphod and Caladin.

Been using it for a few years. I used to work with primates so that's why I picked it. I used to be InstincT.

I think I picked it because I was thinking of a Counterstrike player name and decided Aflac would be cool. I've stuck with it since.

-How long have you been using it?
Maybe a year and a half?

-Do you use the same nickname on every forum you visit?
If Aflac is available, I'll take it.

Always a fan of Barenaked Ladies (both types) but in this case the band. One of their CD's is named "Stunt" Link

Been using the name for 8 years.

Same name all over the net.

Been using it for about a decade. I wanted supernova, but someone on AOL already took it. I chose it because I studied physics and astronomy obsessively.

Picked it because it was on a "get well" card I had signed that day, it was originally a joke that someone wrote on the card because they figured the person in the hospital was going to be eating a lot of jello. My first choice on AT was taken so I typed this in knowing it was not going to be taken.

Been using it since my join date.

Nope.

Need for Speed 4. I picked the name after Need for Speed 3 came out and before Need for Speed "4" was actually named Need for Speed: High Stakes.

Dog's name: missy

Add some Zs: mizzy

Reverse: Yzzim

Basically my dog missy lived to be 140 (dog years) so we thought she was immortal. In 5th grade my good friend and I had to make up a story for school and we decided to make it about Yzzim the immortal dog. Thought it would be a good (unique) nickname to use online.

I use the name for everything, except Ebay. Somehow someone registered the name Yzzim before me on Ebay. I contacted the guy and asked for it but he said he got that nickname while he was in his high school shower room. No joke.

-It's my last name.
-Since... I... was... born...?
-Most places, yes. Unless it's something I don't want my name associated with.

Hmm, been using it since at least 2003-ish, if not earlier.
I used to kick some serious ass with Sheik in Super Smash Bros: Melee, and the 124 just kinda rolled off the tongue with it, also seemed cooler than lame number combos like 123.
The mr is there cause "sheik124" was taken on AIM, and I've never ever seen that screenname online. I go by a mix of sheik124 and mrSHEiK124, for example, my eBay and Heat are under sheik124, as well as my e-mail address and a couple of other forum registrations, everything else is mrSHEiK124.

-Why did you pick it and what does it mean?

I like ska (type of music for those that don't know) and Brain On Ska is the name of a song from Mustard Plug. 511 is my birthday (5-11)

-How long have you been using it?

Here, since December 2005, but was using the name before that. Probably around September 2004 when I started to use this name all around.

-Do you use the same nickname on every forum you visit?

I tend to, but I don't post on too many forums.

Mine's from the first Nintendo64 game I ever bought. There was an obscure character in it named Mr. Vile. Some of you guys might know who I'm talking about...I loved his minigame.

Been using it for like seven years. Before then I wasn't really into the whole internet thing.

I use it with everything.

- Was originally "script_kid" on battle.net as I used to write chat bots, etc. for bnet chat in perl (ahh.. the good ol' days of idling in Diablo Shareware 1 ), changed it to "xcript_kid" later on because obviously it's cooler with an X, removed "_kid" when I was ~16 IIRC.

- ~8 years.

- Pretty much. Sometimes I use "Mov".
