What ever happend to xgi

Just wondering i came across a old site reviewing a xgi volari v8 video card and it did not fair bad at all really i had a xgi v3xt a while ago although it was really not a gaming card it had a nice crisp display i see they still make cards but you never hear anything about them anymore are they just not popular in the us?

They withdrew from the 3D desktop graphics race a few years ago. Their cards were less than competitive and were plagued with driver issues in gaming. I had a V3XT myself at one point, and while it was nice in 2D, it had issues in games.

Right now I think they are only making embedded graphics for servers and such.

They're well alive, just off the public radar - their focus is 2D and 3D graphics chips for the embedded computing market.

Back in 2006 ATi acquired Macrosynergy, a division of XGI and they have since dropped off the radar to an extent. Would have been good if they would have open sourced their drivers...more info on that here. As others have said they are still in business, just in embedded graphics for servers.
