There are 2 differing opinions.

While we continue to participate in RC5, D.net have picked up on a few trojans that are coded with some names of TA members. These trojan programs install themselves on a PC and basically crack blocks on that computer with or without permission. This was one cause of some phantom blocks.

The other school of thought was that after tracking the phf's activities, they found that his/her activities amounted to set amount of blocks per day and didn't significantly go higher or lower (this is before some of the trojan's started spreading) which could indicate someone with a small herd contributing blocks to other people.

Personally, I think it was Dennilfloss and is covering up by joining TA Cube and saying he's got all these people from OT to join in.

Well I still get bloks from the Phantom Flusher

I joined a subteam so it's very obviously

and being member of DPC i know that there are still a few DPC-members out there who are getting bloks. I don't think it's very different here with AT (plz correct me if I'm wrong)

The PhF seems to be slowing drifting off. The trojan is still active, as shown by infected member's stats, but doesn't seem to be spreading rapidly(if at all). With the inclusion of anti-trojan data in the latest virus scanners, the virus has had little luck spreading, or surviving for that matter.:Q So, I think it's safe to say that unless the PhF devises a new way to spread his virus, he's as good as gone.

Yes, I agree with ViRGE in that the PhF blocks are slowing down over time.
I had peaked out in receiving about 20,000/day from the Phantom, but yesterday the PhF contribution was below 8,000 for the first time in months.

Personally, I think the Phantom has lost interest and the corporate machines that have the clients installed on them are getting phased out, reloaded or the program removed.

Either way, I have lost interest in RC5 for myself and joined 2 mini-teams, one doing OGR and the other RC5 on those machines where it is the most efficient/convenient to run that particular contest.

You never know with me though. Might start running SETI again next week.

Oh, he's still cranking away under my account (in fact, almost all my RC5 WU are from the PhF). I peaked at about 25,000 a day, but it's come down a bit since then. I'd say since this all started, I've received almost 2 million WU from the PhF. Because of that, I put most of my efforts into the SETI Cavalry recently. It seems more gratifying.

i found an rc5 client running on a customers machine
and asked him "so you do rc5" and he said what was that.
so did a little more searching and he had notepad renamed
and a few other things done by some virus.

ending up with a complete reinstall.
(he wanted to do that)

never bothered to see what email address it was set to crack for.
