What exactly does it mean when a building is "lit"

From what I know, if a building is described as being lit, that means it's capable of receiving Internet. What I want to know is what specifically defines this. Does it mean that there are lines already in the building, or just that there are lines close enough to bring into the building? I'm trying to figure out if I still need to call my building manager to confirm if there's any issues bringing in a fiber line.

"Lit" has no certain definition. It's up to the person using the word to define it.

As MisterJackson said, there's not really any certain definition of "lit", but the way it's used frequently is such that the communication path has been installed and is now operating, active, or otherwise ready for utilization.

It is a common term for frathouses on homecoming weekend.

That's pretty much the easiest definition.

There's also dark (unused) and dim (partial).
