I have to disagree.
Telling someone their preference for where to start typing is stupid, is stupid.
I can sort my email messages to show first message on top, or bottom, (effectively, date/timestamp of the messages) so why shouldn't I be able to sort the email itself the same way?

Below is the correct place. Above is generally stupid.
But I think there is a toggle switch somewhere in the config.

I prefer to read the new information first, and then refer to the original message as necessary. Why would I want to re-read things I already have before I get to the new material?
I know the solution has already been posted, but here it is one more time in a shorter reply:I just wish it would let you reply above the orig email instead of defaulting to below

heh I see the point you're trying to make here, but e-mail is a little different than a discussion board. more people are often involved in db conversations than in e-mail. you post quotes above your new post in forums so other readers can have an idea of what you're replying to. if you're emailing someone back and forth there's no need to see the original messages first, you know exactly what's there already. so yeah, i'm a start my reply ABOVE the quote fanboyI ask again, why did you reply below the people you quoted here? You prefer not to re-read things others have said, right?
