Although most newer and nicer video cameras transfer file through firewire or USB 2.0.

But if you have an older camera or a satellite/cable tv receiver, you can capture that video too.

Transfering DV isn't considered "VI", but yes, I have a DV cam and I use Firewire to transfermy footage.

"VI" is likely more commonly used for TV/console input rather than for camcorder theses days, but there are plenty of analog camcorders still around.

I believe the show on Cartoon Network, ROBOT CHICKEN, did a segment on VIVO. According to them, VIVO is an evil abbasid that controls your innards.

VIVO is basically the AIW minus the TV tuner. You get composite and/or svid in and out, but not the coax in.

Dumb question time, then can I play my Gamecube on the PC with a VIVO card? Does it look like crap (playing the Gamecube, that is)? And games like Metroid have progressive scan, can VIVO do that?

No. Progressive scan is HD, and you need component connectors for that. You can use an S-Video connector, though, and it gets something like 800x600, which is pretty clear. To get HD you'd need a HD capable capture card.

Yeah, the output from the receiver will be displayed on the monitor. Of ocurse, you need you use an S-Video cable or a dongle that has S-Video on one side and whatever the receiver uses for output.

I only found a way to capture video. I can't find a program that will just stream it to full screen or a sizable window.
