Just plain old [Home] will take you to the top of the page, but that's beside the point. There should be a link at the bottom to click. A lot of the time, I'm just sitting back in my chair mousing around. So it's either shift to use the keyboard, or middle mouse fast scroll. Neither is as good as a clickable link.

Current time is 7:39pm. Latest update, UPS estimates they'll get my package to me by 7:00pm today. I can't wait to see how that's gonna go down. I anticipate my life's gonna get real exciting in the near future/past.

Nope. You're just fucked. Not really exciting, imo.

I have not super great credit, so I thought I'd do stuff to help make my credit not not bad. I applied for the Discover It card and was declined.

It's a secure card, seeing you have to send them $$$ and can only charge up to the amount you sent them. I guess my credit's worse than I thought lol.

You can get accounts at the 3 major bureaus for free. Do that and dispute every derogatory trade line. If the creditor/medical/whatever doesn't respond in 30 days, the line goes away. Keep doing that for several months. Medical, I've seen some on a report 3 times cause they sell it and it shows up as a new debt each time. And same for anything over 7 years.

Did you somehow miss the time change?

Nah, just shitty UPS software. They still said they'd give it to me at 7 a little before midnight. Now, it's indeterminate, which is what I expected the whole time. Certain shipments from Sweden have been lingering in customs longer than usual. Sometimes it goes through fast, other times, not so much. The true delivery time depends on the government, and they run on their own schedule. The best lesson in the detriment of monopolies that exists.

Bought a 48v Eltek rectifier shelf a while back as I had been eyeing 48v rectifiers for a while and this one was a good deal. I went to rack it today and realized it won't work at all in my rack. The ears are too far in as it's made for a 2 post telecom rack, and I anticipated it would still work since my rack has some mounting points that are further in as well, so the ears do meet up at that location, the problem is there is no physical way to get the screwdriver in there to actually bolt it in because the rest of the rectifier is in the way. Something I totally did not factor in my thinking originally when I bought it. After manhandling it for a while and trying to get it in that's when I realized it was futile. So plan B was to bend in the rack ears and set it on top of some universal rails and just not bolt it in but then I realized that doesn't work either since the DC cables come out of the side, and the universal rail blocks the exit.

So now I'm basically back to the drawing board as far as my power upgrade plans go. I may need to just put it in the battery room which is going to be in the crawlspace. I was not planing on making an actual battery room, and just a vented battery box, but guess that will change. I might just extend the server room into that portion of the crawlspace and then close it in completely. The rectifier shelf can just sit on a table next to the batteries. In a way maybe this is better, as it keeps all the DC power stuff in one area and I will save money on cabling.

Managed to get it mounted, so my idea of putting the rails upside down worked. I was able to load it in from behind the rack much more easily, so the ears sit on the wrong side, but it matters less since the rails are what is supporting it. Managed to get 1 screw per side into the ears so it's at least secured and won't move. Very tricky spot to get to with a screwdriver. Had a hell of a time plugging in the ethernet cord for the management interface but ideally I will never need to change it out. The DC power feeds will be easy to get to which was one concern I had. Have not decided where I'll put the bus bars yet, but I'll decide that when I buy them. Ordered an inverter and I have 4 small 7.2ah batteries so after this I'll technically have a rudimentary dual conversion UPS. For the time being I will only plug my workstations into it to get rid of the small UPSes and cleanup the bottom of the rack. When I prove this out to work nicely I will then get bigger batteries and transfer the server PDU over to it. Been meaning to do this for like over 10 years... lol. Finally getting to it now.

Some guy at the gym was doing his entire workout from the squat rack this morning. He'd do squats, then step back and lift some dumbbells, then jump up and down on a platform, do some stretches, etc. Probably about 10% of his time was actually doing squats. I had to wait for him to finish before I could get in there.

Yeah, screw that. I put the dumbbells back on the rack between my sets in case someone else wants to step in (I'm nice like that). I don't wander off or anything. Last week, guys takes the bells over to a bench and then gets on his phone. I had to go up 5lbs...which I should have already but...eff him.

I don't really get why people bother going to the gym. There are plenty of great bodyweight exercises and you can get up to 50KG of weight lifting done in the comfort of your own home with cheap weights from Amazon. I would feel bad looking at how great everyone else looks and feel embarrassed about my own scrawny appearance. Plus, my body really has something against building muscle. It's just not in my genes I guess.

I have weights at home. They hold up my laundry very nicely.

Can't never could. My kid was 6'4" 150lbs...scrawny. He wanted to add muscle....well, lift heavy 6 days a week, eat enough calories (3500/day for him) and get 8hrs+ sleep. 1.5 years later, he's 180 and still has a 6 pack.

I've got a 6 pack, too, but it's in the fridge.

I really need to get back into working out myself. My basement is a mess because I've been doing lot of work down there but the bulk of it is done, I just need to cleanup so I can get the weight set back in operational condition.

I draw you a picture…

Two trucks, both pulling oversize, over-length loads decide to meet on the corner of two narrow roads and across the choo choo tracks. In this case, the choo choo is the Union Pacific mainline on a wide open, flat stretch. For whatever reason, both drivers decided to try to be first. Both trucks had freaking pilot cars and they still ended up like this. Yours truly backed up aways and watched the great backening. If I had a train horn on my truck, I probably could have sold clean underwear for $50/pair.

Looks like I just lost $250 to a banking error.

I opened a new trading account with Questrade so I can do index funds as my current broker doesn't seem to have that option. I sent the money via bill payment and copy and pasted the number they told me to put in, but for some reason when I look at my bank statement, it shows a different number than what I put in and to make matters worse, the first part of it is blanked out, so I can't see the whole number. So I can't even give it to Questrade so they can try to find the money and put it in the right place. So the money is basically gone into some random account.

I probably should have done a small transfer first as a test... but got too confident that it would just work.

I expected better from you. You let me down. I was hoping to hire you to develop a facebook, twitter or even google clone. But now I'm not sure anymore

All you need is a shed and a dream really. You could run Facebook out of a glorified barn in you think about it.

It's weird, because I copy and pasted the number that it said to make the transfer to, but somehow it ended up being different after the fact. So no idea how that even happened. I did a test deposit of $1 after re-adding it with the right number and I got a notice today that it went through. So the $250 is definitely gone because I would have gotten that notice a week ago. Some random person will be happy they got extra money in their account.

It was closed and I'm working all week, so sent an email. Got a response and they will look into it. So fingers crossed I might get the money back. Not sure how that works though, once it's sent I think it's out of the bank's hands. The account holder at the other end would need to initiate a transfer to send it back.

Some banks in UAE give total freedom to their account holders in this regard. If the customer refuses to give debit authority, you can't get the money back unless you go to court and even then the chances are slim. I think that's why my former colleague fraudulently and surreptitiously transferred $1.76 million to some private bank via 202 message. Good thing the bank only accepted 103 to credit customer accounts so kept it on hold waiting for a reply from us. As soon as we found out in the morning, we initiated a refund request and got it back in less than 10 minutes. By the way, I was the only one in the company who knew how to do that. Got called in from my vacation and got diddly squat for the favor. In fact, the COO considered me responsible for allowing such a possibility (yeah, like you are paying me for security consulting too, you dick!).
