My Verizon router took a crap. It left me w/o TV as well as internet. It was just physically dead. So, they told me that they would "send out" another one, next day priority UPS . . . except they couldn't put the order in until tomorrow. Turns out, tomorrow is Saturday, so the soonest I could get it would be Monday.

I said that was unacceptable, would they send out a service tech tonight with one? They said, sure, but I "might" incur charges. I asked under what conditions might I incur charges? The guy said the tech would determine that.

So, I calmly said that the tech would be determining that from a formal protocol, and that I wished to have access to that protocol. The tech simply couldn't understand what I was asking. So I asked for a supervisor. Turns out, even if I wanted a tech, scheduling for the service tech center was now closed for the night, and for the weekend.

So, I said that I had other routers for the net, but that I wanted to veg out on the tube, and that when I had re-upped in Feb, they had given me a new router (for free -- tense moments while the installation tech called his boss and asked) because the Verizon one I had "wouldn't work" with my newer model DVR they gave me.

So, I asked, what possible capabilities might I have if I went ahead and hooked up the old one? Live TV? Access to already recorded programs? What?

Eventually the supervisor said that I would probably have live TV and possibly access to my already recorded programs, but would be missing all other DVR capability.

So . . . when I hooked up the old Verizon router, a message on the tube said "update/reboot" in 3 minutes. I let it happen. The supervisor hadn't been sure what menus I might be able to see. He specifically said I wouldn't be able to see the TV listings guide, but that I should be able to see the menus to access my already recorded programs.

However, after the update, I was able to see the TV listings. So I pressed manual recording on a program already on, and also scheduled a program to be recorded that would start in 20 minutes.

I let the recording of the program already playing go for a couple of minutes, and then went to see if I could play what I'd manually recorded.

Success!

Then, when the following program I'd scheduled to record came on and showed in the menus that it had started recording, I went to see if the recorded part would play back.

MOAR success.

My eye bolts to finish off my drum set platform hasn't arrived yet, I guess I should have just went to the hardware store for them I guess.

But the Danish Oil on it is till setting up and hardening, so not that big of a deal.

Surprised it taken that long for the oil to harden up, but I guess I did put a lot on for about three days straight, it's still tacky after a few days from the last light coat.

My system volume is at 33/100. With my receiver also set low, I can usually get a nice 55-60 dB listening level (I have an SPL meter) a few feet from my speakers by adjusting in-browser volume levels from 40%-100%. Any lower and lots of YouTube videos wouldn't be audible even at 100%.

That doesn't stop the in-browser player from defaulting at 100% while usually being encoded louder.
