About five days ago I was taking video of me in the pool with a USB water prof inspection camera. Well, I had moved the damn laptop away from the pool since I did not want water to get on it of course and low and behold I managed to splash water on the damn keyboard. The 3 key was stuck and for lack of a better word it would half-boot. I was able to get into the OS, but sometimes I couldn't due to the stuck 3 key. My laptop had an ATA password and is encrypted. So yeah... entering a password wasn't working all that well with a stuck 3 key. I even let 90 plus weather dry it out. After I removed the keyboard and put it back the Num keys blink and now I can't get this damn thing to boot. I removed the SSD and for now stored it in my safe until I buy another. This was only a Dell Precision M6300. Not that big a deal since I can get a bare bone on ebay and pop the SSD back in and have a laptop again. I had Xampp on that thing and installing a local copy of my WordPress was a bitch with all the database edits I had to do to make it run on local machine. I could if I wanted connect the SSD to the desktop and grab the data if I had to. But I'll just see what a new laptop does. Only about $65-$150 set back.

Now I'm on a damn slow Inspiron 6000 with XP SP3. The hard drive crashed and I had to use a 30GB I had and reinstall Windows XP and basic crap like WinSCP, Notepad ++, Thunderbird, etc just so I could be on the couch and watch TV instead of in the down stairs dungeon on the desktop. Desktop is more for gaming.

Moved a broken su binary to my phone, and lost root access. My sdk is out of date, and I don't have net access at my house. I'll probably go to work later, and deal with it there :^(

I told you that your excessive security habits were more trouble than they were worth if you weren't a high value espionage target.

Anyway, just buy a new keyboard. The old one will eventually dry out but the liquid is probably between many layers/films.

I went looking for a new mouse -- not a need, kind of a want. Wanted a regular, non-gaming mouse, found one and reviews suggested it was a piece of shit made with very poor materials and of poor quality. So, sounds like it's gaming mouse or nothing... Can't believe my G5 still works perfectly like a decade later.

HPx3000 wireless for $8, FS @ BB. 4.5/5 stars with > 2,000 reviews. 4/5 stars on Amazon & Newegg.

Wireless & cheap, so probably not what you want, Mr. Mouse Snob, but it's 8 freaking bucks delivered to your door. <shrug>

Surprisingly "stylish" for such a low price.

Unfortunately, I need my "back" button for the thumb. And I don't like using wireless devices -- from cell phones, wifi, Bluetooth, to home phones -- because science says there's a remote chance they cause the cancerz... I'm writing this now from a computer hooked up to my router with a 50' CAT5e cord looped through 2 doorways.

I also like the braided mouse cords... Think it's going to be a Logitech G302 or 402 if I pull the trigger.

Received a letter from the IRS saying we owed them $864 bucks from a return two years ago.

Fortunately the wife figured out what the problem was and called her boss from back then.

He screwed it up, and has his accountant fixing it.

Part of the reason it was fudged to begin with, she used to manage everything.

My security habbits have nothing to do with this. Like I already said, I can access my SSD if I wanted. I'm not the only one that uses TrueCrypt and if I had a password for the username I'd still be SOL.

Think I cracked the spirit/bubble level of my Joby tripod when I let it tip over after setting it down -- I hadn't used it in forever, collapsed it, then forgot that this thing doesn't magically stay upright like my regular tripods when I pull the legs back out. Nothing's leaking, but I can see the plastic on one edge of the tube is scuffed inside.

I ordered new speakers and a wireless audio transmitter/receiver thingy. The speakers are arriving today and the thingy is arriving tomorrow. Both require that I drag the receiver out of the cabinet and play with the wires on the back. It would make sense to do it all at the same time but then I would have to wait a day to listen to the new speakers.

Also, this mechanical keyboard is dropping letters and missing shifts when I type fast.

Someone suffering from an intellectual disability broke another piece of dinnerware because he fell asleep at the table eating. Why did he fall asleep? Because he sleeps 3 nights a week now and doesn't think human biology applies to him. Well, this genius half-asses the clean-up and then goes to dust off his shoes over a tiny garbage can in the bathroom that couldn't possibly catch all the dust/bits of glass. Because using the giant laundry tub would have been dumb.

The router I want because it's cute looking is on sale for like 50% off. But I can't buy it because the brand seems to have a problem with security issues... I'll just have to get the slightly more expensive router with those ugly external antennas.

My room is 29 C, thermostat is right above my desk. We have AC but I want to "experience" summer because it'll be freezing in a few months.

Unit tripped offline last night at 4AM due to a random high vibration spike. The history shows a giant blip upwards of 10 mils. Got the boiler re-lit, closed in the exciter breaker and the fire protection went off on the transformer - foam all over the place. No idea what's going on. I'm gonna be here a while.
