Went to the local McD to get a quick bite for lunch and one of the idiot pulled out and went the wrong way of the 1 way line. The whole line (eat in and drive through) freaking jam all the way out to the main street (which was full of vehicles from the lunch rush). What a mess that was.

Tried to clean the gunk out of my comb. I know, 'what's the matter, can't afford the quarter to buy a couple dozen?' It's a cheap plastic comb but I'm used to it.

Anyway, tried using an old toothbrush, no luck. Tried using the end of a paperclip and had better luck but will need to go down a size. That stuff sticks like a bitch. Even when you dislodge you still need to fight to get it all of the way out.

Tell me what works... because I have a set of ear muffs ($25) that have gunk (i.e. my dead skin, oil, crud) that decided to glue itself to the muffs. Wiping that with paper towel dry/wet didn't work, only my nails started getting some of it off -- shudders.

I found two huge spider webs down from the ceiling connected to my $300 headphones that I haven't used in over a year. That "forced" me to clean them off an put them in their storage case...

I tried some 3% peroxide but that didn't do jack. My guess is that a nonpolar solvent would probably work but I can't think of any that aren't pretty nasty all by themselves. Maybe mineral oil? But I'm guessing that would just make things worse.

Trying again to progress my French ability beyond the first-grade level by reading dual-language "beginner's" books I bought almost a decade ago... Holy shit.

Now I remember why I stopped reading, they're effing pre-1930s collections of literature. It's like asking a "beginner" in English to read F. Scott Fitzgerald and Shakespeare. Not only is it boring as shit, the language is flamboyant. $50 says they chose these things because their copyright expired.

Get a bottle of Listerene and soak the comb over night. Rinse and you're good to go.

On way to Dr's appointment. Leave house at 8AM. Car breaks down on highway at 8:10. Thanks to a smartphone, I reschedule my Dr's appointment, look up a tow company, and make some calls. By 9AM I'm back home and my car is sitting at a mechanic shop.

Am now working from home.

Am not worried about how I'm going to pay to fix the car, since it's a cheap box on wheels that I use to commute, and if the repair is expensive, I can buy a nearly identical one, cash. (KBB puts it at around $2.5k. Cheap box on wheels.)
