My bank is being bought out by another bank and the new bank has much less in the way of features (anyone use Key Bank? Their checking options are terrible). Found another nearby bank that looked promising and went in yesterday to find out what their account options are.
They had a checking account type which had almost everything I need, somewhat comparable to the bank I have now, and I sat down to read through the fine print of the account features. Wait - minimum balance to waive $50 monthly fee is $100,000? Oh, come on. What else you got?
The next level requires $25,000 to waive the monthly fee? Do you really think people in this town keep that kind of money in checking? What else you got?
The next level requires $10,000 balance? OK, I'll play along... what does it include? A debit card and up to $6/month reimbursement of ATM fees. Free checks? No. Free safe deposit box? No.
FWP I know but come on, I never heard of a bank offering so little for such giant minimum balances.
I'll still have the credit union as my main account but I need a B&M bank that's close to home also, the search goes on.
