Several airlines have banned the note 7 from being brought onboard their aircraft and the FAA issued a statement about them. You'd think that the FCC, NTSB and UL Labs would've issued public statements about them or even generate a PSA to further inform the public of the risks. I did see on the news last night where a guys jeep in south Florida burned because he was charging one of them while it was running in his driveway.

^It's even more shocking because the phone has only been out about a month. I thought it had been around for a while.

For a few million phones, it's statistically rare, but damn.

We're not even through week 1 of the NFL season and I'm already sick of the same commercials being played over and fucking over. If I have to see Bo Jackson and that fucking Kia shit one more time...

Quickcharging Li Ion. Great idea.

Call me pussy but the last thing I want to do with a battery technology that is known for being a sensitive bitch with low overheating and starting fires is pump more power (watts) through it. This was happening during the USB 2.x era of 5 volts and 1 amp or lower charging... now they're pumping 2-3 amps with voltage boost or something.

I checked my tire pressure earlier this afternoon and discovered that my dry rot had spread across the side walls of my back tires. I had to hunt around for a new set and at first I was going to cheap out and just get the rears but ended getting all 4. As it is now my front and rear don't match but are about to. The local tire shops didn't have what I wanted in stock so I had to order them and schedule an appointment for the day they're supposed to be in. This will be my first time buying tires from Pep Boys.

Filming crap with natural light... Sun kept going in and out, fuxxor3d my lighting. Had to turn on the ceiling lamp which mixed warm white light with daylight, made it look like ass.

Ate a good lunch and kinda hungry now but don't want to cook or to go out to get something so I will just drink juice for dinner. I need to lose a few pounds anyway.

Went out for some fresh air and the jacked up truck behind me has not one, not two, but FOUR freaking lights that were so bright. His lights were so bright that I could not look at my rear view mirror. Not sure if those were legal.

Well if you folks in the great white north get stranded outdoors with a note 7 you can at least start a fire with it to warm up.

Not sure where I want to work next. Of all the recruiters that have contacted me, my options so far are:

Denver, Houston, Chicago, Raleigh, Orlando, Mandeville LA, Nashville, Kansas City. I want warmth, but I think I'd dislike FL because ... it's Florida. Chicago is way too cold. Nashville/Denver seem too mid-country, but I hear Denver is beautiful. Mandeville is kind of random, but looks like it could be fun. Raleigh and Houston are top choices at the moment - but I haven't been to either. I'm in no rush. It's still in the very early stages, but I definitely will be checking some of these places out when I get around to it.

Houston is a big commuter city about as hot as orlando. If you are making enough to buy homes that start around 300k, then I would go with Houston and live in the woodlands, tx.

Personally, would choose Denver. But I never want to go back to gulf-coast heat again.

Good info. Didn't realize Houston gets -that- hot. My grandparents lived just north of Orlando when I was growing up - so I spent a LOT of time there doing all the parks and touristy stuff that kids do. I was just fortunate enough to spend 3 weeks a summer down there with them every single year. It was hot, but I like that MUCH more than the cold. I did my snow/ice/cold weather time and I'm ready to go.

At my first job one of the guys left to go to Houston. He bought a house in Pearland, TX that was 4x the size, much nicer, absolutely gorgeous house ... for the same payment he was paying here in NY. He's somewhere near the Pearland HS, because I remember him saying the HS football games are ridiculously good (apparently those people live for HS football). Much different world. Why Woodlands? 300k is definitely do-able, but I'd most likely rent for the first year to get things situated and get settled a bit.

Raleigh seems like an ideal location in that 1) TONS of sports 2) driving distance from the coast/beaches 3) driving distance from mountains 4) affordable 5) weather is almost ideal. having an inch of snow a year isn't too bad. especially when the shut the entire city down anyway.

Beside being very hot AND humid during the summer, Houston does not have building code so you could get residential and businesses all mixed up in the same neighborhood. It is very large and spread out so it could take you a while to travel across the city and of course, on-going construction almost year round. Plus Texas does not have income tax so your property tax rate is higher than normal but the cost of a nice house is not high so it is not so bad.

If everything is equal. This is what I pick for the top 3 = 1) Raleigh, 2) Denver, 3) Nashville.

You have to pay to park at a grocery store? What country do you live in?
Chicago. The parking ramp is a shared ramp with a movie theater and several restaurants. It's not so much about charging the grocery store shoppers as it is keeping people out of the lot who might otherwise park there because they can't find any street parking. But yeah I was annoyed.

Leaving work last night my backpack brushed up against a fire alarm, why in the world did they put the badge reader right next to the fire alarm? Anyone ever have this happen to them?

That's what I was going to recommend but you should take a trip there and see for yourself whether or not you like it before you commit and regret.

My alarm went off at 11am this morning but instead of getting up, I just turned it off and went back to bed. I barely even remember doing it. Woke up at like 3pm. Got up showered, ate etc and now day is practically over. Hate when that happens.

I'm also in a bit of pain from a good workout yesterday, so at least there's that! No pain no gain.

I know this will curse me (usually does), but I'm chilled by the enormously robust AC I have in my home. I should turn up the thermostat and be more comfortable, but who else is going to use more electricity?

This time of year is bad for that, tempted to use the furnace in the morning, but then during the day almost need the AC. I try to refrain from using either of them. Though the humidity also tends to be higher (61% now, it's usually 50) so yesterday I did use the AC for a bit just to lower it. Funny thing is, I am not that uncomfortable since it's a nice 21C, but I just like to watch the number go down.

Season finale of Amazing Race Canada and my cable went out... way to go. I'll watch it on demand later in the week.

Edit: And cable came back then went away during the last ten minutes. Had to look up who won on Twitter.

At least they didn't pre-empt the Letterman finale...

Another tropical system is moving up the east coast of FL and is pushing into my area. The severe storm and flood warnings are starting to crop up tonight. I'm hoping that no quick spin tornadoes get generated by this one.

Have you ever tried using a nasal rinse? I used to be all stopped up myself and my doctor suggested that I use a neti pot which works great. I also use flonase along with it because I have problems with my Eustacia tubes.
