Ummm... whuh? Serious question: can you explain that (without getting all P&N'ey)?

I've never heard a complaint like that before. I even promise I won't be all like, "well, no, actually...".

Yep, when the ACA first dropped everybody was required to get insurance or pay fines. I tried, but couldn't qualify to get any kind of insurance, even the "free" government crap. In my state that was Washington Apple Care (or something like that) and I did apply (both for the state, and on the shitty government webpage at the time). For whatever stupid reason there are some conflicting medicare/medicaid rules or whatever that make it so I have to pay, but do not qualify. I'm not old enough, not employed, officially "mentally disabled", etc. I never did understand all this crap and never could figure it out. Basically it seems the state is pointing the finger at the government, and the government is saying I have to get it from the state. But the government requires I pay whether I have coverage or not (and they take the money directly from the income I do get).

Fortunately I basically never need medical, and I try to average dental like once every 18 months (which costs up to $500 a pop). The only time I hurt myself or needed medical beyond what I could provide for myself was last year. That's when humpty dumpty and another kid got run over, and I hurt myself lifting the vehicle off them. My family basically forced me to see a doctor for it, and it was the most expensive bullshit ever.

Me: "I hurt my back improperly lifting a very heavy weight in an emergency situation."
Doctor: "I see you can barely walk, and can't stand full upright...does that mean it hurts?"
Me: "...well yeah."
Doctor: "O.K. it looks like you hurt your back, I suggest you don't lift anything for a few months"
Me: "Uh, obviously...can't you actually do something to see what's damaged?"
Doctor: "You probably tore a muscle, here's a prescription for some drugs...good day" *walks out*

I'm getting my shirt and jacket back on when a nurse comes in...

Nurse: "Looks like you're all set, we'll send you a bill"
Me: "Uh, you guys didn't do anything?"
Nurse: "The doctor didn't see you?"
Me: "They did, but they didn't do anything, or tell me anything...just gave me a prescription"
Nurse: "Well it looks like it's just soft tissue damage, it should be fine in 3-6 months"

The total bill was like $800 (it was split into 3 separate bills, this not including the prescriptions) and it's now been almost a year and I still have back issues. I can walk and stand up straight, even carry some weight... but I can definitely tell there's still damage and I have still have soreness and even sharp pain occasionally.

Huh.

Well, if you do get the insurance angle worked out, here's hoping you get some PT or something.

My mom "pulled a muscle" that "never healed quite right" once upon a time.

It was 3 years before she went to a doctor and they were like, "dude, pinched nerve. smash this book between your ass-cheeks and be back here next week for a workout and stretching."* Two months of that and she was a whole new person.

Best of luck.

*That's obviously, like, a ten-year-old's perspective on the process.

This is what I was actually hoping for...I wish there was an honest reliable doctor who could actually figure out what the damage is and give me some good options. But from what I've seen, doctors are bigger, nastier, more evil scum than used car salesmen. Most of them are extremely vain and arrogant and believe they know it all, when they really don't know shit (or don't even try to determine the issue, happy to just guess).

While I only saw a doctor once for my back, I've been helping out humpty dumpty for this last year since he was severely injured in the accident (severed limbs). There's been some serious setbacks due to incompetent doctors...and these are supposed to be some of the best in the western half of the US (harborview).

Fortunately we've been able to find some rather good doctors (specific to his issues), and it does now appear that they saved said limbs (like 95% done).

I'll probably never be able to lift anything heavy though.

That is 1200+ a year??? That is a lot! How old are you? Is that cheap in the US?
My friend parents insurance is around 300-400 year I think it all depend on how long you been driving and the age of the driver and ofc penalties. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Just do it.

It's likely everyone there has the same urge, and similar reservations. If one is brave enough to start I'm sure everyone else will join in.

LOL. It's actually quite tempting. There's only three others right now; the manager left earlier and is working from home. MY INNER KITTY IS JUST SCRATCHING TO GET OUT

Yeah, $1,200+ a year. I'm well past the 25yr limit if that's what your're asking...and I have a fantastic clean record and drive about 2-3k miles a year (less than 10 miles a day).

No idea if that's a good price or not...all I know is that these guys are FANTASTIC (USAA) and I'm not going to switch to some shitbags for a few dollar savings. I can literally call them up, tell them I want 80k, and it'll be in my account next day. Then they'll go through the hassle of figuring all the crap out for me.

I've got half a million dollars in coverage for my auto insurance.

Stupid ebayer shipped my item UPS and there's like a 50% chance that the driver will just slow down and throw the box at my yard and a 50% chance that he'll not even attempt delivery and claim I wasn't home to receive it.

Speaking of ordering stuff online I ordered some Transistors off Amazon a while back. I now regret not just biting the bullet and paying the $8 Digikey shipping. Amazon takes forever for stuff like that. Been several weeks now. The part is cheap and it's the only thing I needed so did not want to buy off Digikey, but it's not me paying for it anyway so I should have just gone through them.

I'm tempted to just order it anyway, I'll probably get it like after tomorrow, while the Amazon one is only going to be here in like a week or more. At this point may as well just continue to wait though.

It's for one of my nephew's hoverboard, I'm hoping it fixes the issue then I can clear my workbench for other projects.

My pork sausage and cream gravy mre looked like an out of control yeast infection D^: Tasted ok though.

Also, my job today is running a chainsaw, and it's kicking my ass. The wood's really dirty, so I'm spending as much time sharpening the blade as I am cutting :^(

Walked to the small engine place next door and bought a Husqvarna chain. Not even close to fitting my Poulan Pro. I learned today a chain isn't a chain. I'm not taking it back since I mangled the packaging, so I'm now the proud owner of $28 chain that doesn't fit my stuff. I guess my next saw will be a Husqvarna, or maybe a Stihl if the blade I bought will fit it.

Ordered an item off Amazon that I needed pretty quick. It was also $10 cheaper than elsewhere.
2 weeks later and no item...WTF?

"Oh we decided we didn't actually want to sell it to you for that price, so we took your money, laughed at you for a few weeks, and will get around to refunding you whenever we feel like it."

Meanwhile the item is now suddenly out of stock everywhere except a few scalpers charging literally 3 times the price.

Had a followup for the 12/29 surgery. I wanted to cash pay since I've dropped UHC. "Nope. We have to file it with your new provider." Why? It's prior to me having them. "We have to file it anyway and have them tell us no." dafuq is wrong with America when I can't pay my Dr directly?

Maybe I should have taken in a chicken.

oh we're dropping our healthcare issues on this thread

wife got bit by a dog, had to go to ER. Hospital gave us a 25% discount for paying up front, so we paid it up front. It was 3k less 25% discount (ie my entire deductible). got a letter from hospital saying insurance denied $950 worth of charges.

So, was reading BBB reviews/complaints of a local car dealership. They're anonymized (everybody's name is replaced with ***** and it's just initials.)

Which is awesome if you pretend that instead of people's names, they're bleeping out curse words.

****** vehicle is unfortunately well out of warranty

an informed and intelligent shopper such as *****

There was never anything hidden from ******

I want peanut butter toast tomorrow but I also want peanut butter and jelly tonight. If I have peanut butter and jelly tonight, there might not be enough for peanut butter toast tomorrow.

Was making a nice approach into LFMN which is the Nice airport in France from Venice and I was apparently lined up with the localizer, but as I seen the airport come into view the LOC was clearly way off so I had to bank left to line up. Sometimes I think fucking FSX was coded by a 5 year old. There are glitches throughout and it's not perfect. Totaly takes away from the realism I expect. I so need to get Lockheed Martin's Prepar3d installed. Hopefully that's better.
