Dealing with this weird heat wave here in Portland,OR.
Thank God for air conditioning.
(70 degrees F @ 5 AM,on our way to 107 degrees F later on this afternoon.)

I took the last 3 days(Monday,Tuesday and Wednesday) off from work.
Dreading going back to work this morning,as the mailroom where I work has horrible A/C.

(To make matters worse, they often leave the loading dock door-it's a roll-up garage door-style- open to the outside, which lets all the heat in).
I decided not to work yesterday and just took the family down to Cannon beach .

I recommend taking another one of your sick days.
You took three days off due to heat?
110 + Portland-level AC = heat stroke.

It made me sad

We were on our way to having two dead kitties yesterday. As I posted in another thread, Leon died yesterday, which while sad, was not unexpected as he was old and was in a long term health decline. Reggie (below) either had a stroke or possibly has a brain tumor. He's headed to the vet this week to see if we can figure out what is going on. Either way, this isn't what was going to get him killed last night. He has become very vague about his surroundings and gets "stuck" in places like corners and spaces between the furniture. If his brain was working correctly, he would simply back out. But his brain isn't working correctly so he tries to keep moving forward and then panics when this doesn't work. Last night, Reggie got stuck between two stacks of Rubbermaid storage boxes. Panicking, he managed to get twisted around and get his neck wedged between two of the box handles on the second layer of boxes, effectively hanging himself. We heard his thrashing and freed him. He's okay but now we're trying to figure out how to Reggie-proof the house.

Reggie is back from the vet. It is a brain tumor. We'll keep him hydrated and loved but there is no fix. We're getting way too good at running a kitty hospice.

I am so sorry, the passing of a loved one is always hard, my condolences.

Bummer dude. I'm seriously allergic to cats, so when I got married we had to give away her cats. I really miss those guys. Sorry that you'll be missing yours soon

I cannot call in a building inspection by phone, the city only accepts online requests and I don't know the login.

Wanted a breakfast burrito from Taco Bell. Pulled into the drive-thru at 10:35am. Asked them if they were still serving breakfast. They said no. So I ordered a couple of regular burritos instead.

Pulled up to pay. Asked them what time they stopped serving breakfast. They said 11am.

It's hard to bitch about $1. I like TB but they scrimped so much on the amount of food for the $$ I stopped going.

Sorry to hear that. Hard to be philosophical about losing a friend, but it was good while it lasted. He got a home, you got a friend, and it all will end, like everything else. Your area is lucky to have you taking in hard to adopt kitties :^)

For me...

I got some Guinness today. Yay!
It's made in Ireland, and not Canada. Double yay!!
It's in 11.2oz bottles :^(

Drank a couple while I was readjusting my truck setup, went in the house for the night, and loaded them in the fridge. When I was closing the crisper door, it popped the lid off one of the bottles. Now there's beer in the drawer, Iost a bit of beer, and since I had to drink the remainder, I'm more buzzed than I'd like le sigh an osna...

First of all, it was freaking hot today. The temp was in the 90's but the heat index was 105.

I went to Kroger to shop and the check out girl entered the code of my green cabbage as green lecture so I overpaid about $0.50.

Then I stopped by Domino's because of the $7.99 large pizza with 3 toppings plus I have a gift card of $20 which I paid $10 last week. I was so hungry and the pizza was hot right off the oven so now my upper mouth has a minor burn. Oh, and the pizza was more greasy than normal. So much for my try to be healthier diet, right out the door.

And don't let me start with how expensive orange juice is, $4-$5 a gallon for cheap store/generic brand and $6 and higher for premium brands?

So I stopped by the same Domino earlier today after work and could not find the gift card so I did have to use my credit card. Order the same type of pizza ($7.99 for 3 toppings pickup) and the place was so darn busy. Waited for 1/2 hour and finally one of the ladies asked me what I was waiting for and the pizza was ready for a while but no one told me.

So the pizza was not so freaking like last time and not as greasy but warm but it was not as good taste wise. Too dry. This is why I do not like to eat at the chain restaurants. Inconsistency.

Trying to apply for a cash reward credit card from Alliant Credit Union.

What's the big deal? Well, because the first year, you can get 3% cash back with no cap and no annual fee. Second year, 2.5% cash back and no cap but $59/year annual fee.

So it could be a good deal for me because I could earn a few hundred bucks extra on this card and cut back on the 2% cash back CitiBank card.

But now Alliant is asking me all kind of documents and this and that. I have several "high end" credit cards from other banks before, Chase Reserve, American Express Platinum, etc. and none of them asked me that much for documents.

What a mess and a pain.

Housemate couldn't bring cat to vet because she couldn't find the cat carrier. Called me, crying, only after the vet appt. had passed.

We have an appointment at the vet tomorrow.

Should have put the cat in the car, and stopped by the liquor store to get you a case of something nice. Replace the beer with the cat, add some paracord, and you have a nice cat carrier(and some beer)

Another office just requested GIS data in pdf format. I'm considering it.

Do a bunch of printscreens and safe them in PDF.

When they complain it looks weird, tell them PDF was never that great to begin with and certainly not appropriate for your kind of work.

Just got back from vacation, exhausted. Need a vacation.

Haha I know the feeling. I find out of town vacations can be more exhausting than just staying at home. Almost need 2 take two weeks at a time, one week to recover from the first week.

Recently got back from down south and I was burnt... literally. Gingers and beaches don't really mix. Was nice to sleep in my own air conditioned home.
