The battery in the UPS that my workstation and mining rig are plugged into decided to die, so now it's beeping every couple minutes. I don't know the size of the battery and it would require shutting down the mining rig and my workstation to find out and really don't feel like doing that.

I didn't know moose used batteries.

I was going to take Monday off of work to get some blood taken for my physical and go snowboarding, but apparently it's a holiday, so my season pass isn't valid.

Yeah have to give the moose a break once in a while so everything starts to run off battery while I switch out the moose for another. I don't have room to keep a couple pet meese so I just get on my roof and do a moose call to call a random wild moose. Moose that are tired won't come but ones that have rested will. Even the wild moose know the drill now. They actually don't mind the physical work as it keeps them warm. 1 moose will generate around 1-2kw without pushing it too hard but they can peak at around 10. I don't like to work them too hard though or they don't come back next time I do a moose call.

Used to run a diesel, but realized that moose feed is cheaper than diesel.

Oddly enough the church is usually the place to go for that. Christians don't really do the bar scene.

I just go for the fellowship, and I'm kinda the sound guy. I say kinda, because I miss enough that some of the kids have started to take over.

Even better is that 95%+ of the chicks you meet at church will put out relatively easily.

So I kinda got screwed over by winning a domain in an auction. There was no option to put whois privacy and now all my info is public.

My cell phone won't stop ringing and I'm getting several spam emails per minute. All my info is right on the public whois now. No option to get whois privacy because it's at a "holding" registrar until I can transfer it to Namecheap and then apply the whois privacy. So pissed. I will probably have to change my phone number since even once I do get it changed, whois sites keep history so you can still go back and check.

I really need to get a fake phone number and fake mailing address (like PO box or something) so I can use as whois info instead of having to pay for whois privacy for each domain, and it would also save me for instances where I may not be able to apply it right away.

Not looking forward to all the junk mail I'm going to start getting at home.

I replaced the radon fan in my attic yesterday, and it seems slightly louder than my old one. When I'm in my upstairs bathroom and everything is quiet, I can hear a slightly higher-pitched humming, compared to the lower humming of the old fan.

I've been mulling over removing all the insulation from my attic and going crazy with air sealing (not sure if the contractor through my electric company's energy program did this properly) the top plate and ceiling/floor penetrations, spray foam the floor, and cover it with plywood. Would be nice to be able to walk without having to trapse through the loose insulation on the rare occasions I venture up there. It would be even cooler to be able to insulate the entire attic so I could use it for storage or possibly finish it at some point, but that's probably out of my skillset/financial means at the moment.

You should look into radiant barrier, especially if you live in a hotter climate.

Yeah I should really get some kind of free voip number and a PO box. What sucks is I did have a PO box, but they don't offer an option to have it come out automaticly each month so had to go pay for it manually, it was supper annoying so ended up just letting it expire. If I did that I would also not need to pay for whois privacy for every single domain.

I just put fake info for now but that's kinda illegal and I could lose the domain, but it's worth the risk until I can get it transfered and get whois privacy setup. I don't need my phone going off the hook every hour of the day, then I will miss actual legit calls because I have no choice but to keep it on silent.

I thought the PO Box fee was an annual thing. I pay .. what ... $240 a year.

Yeah it's not expensive, but it sucks that you can't make it just come out of the bank automatically. I checked. I was renting a tiny box just so I can have something to put on my whois that is not my physical address, so that I don't need to bother with whois privacy but it was just annoying having to always remember to go renew it. I need to look into it again though, maybe they finally have an auto pay feature now. I own more domains now and having to pay for whois privacy adds up.

The email address I don't care as much about, I use a separate one. I have it redirect to my main mailbox but I can always just setup a separate mailbox for it so my main one does not fill with spam. It would also prevent situations like this one, where you buy a domain through a 3rd party and don't even have access to the privacy stuff.

For phone I can probably just use google voice or something. I actually had a number through a company called evoice I used to use, it's just a message box. But the problem is that you need some stupid proprietary app to even listen to the message.

Google Voice + virtual mailbox. GV is free & a virtual mailbox (PO/biz/residential/whatever) can be had for as low as $10 a month. Alternatively, you can try the old trick of adding a character to your stress address, i.e if you live on 123 Lover's Lane, make it 123a Lover's Lane so you can easily separate out the spam snail mail.

I dropped a can of food on my foot & broke my toe. I wish I was making that up

Went grocery shopping, got home, shoes were muddy so I took them off so I wouldn't track dirt in, lifted up the bag of groceries, and a family-size can of soup broke through the plastic bag, fell at an angle, and did a direct hit on my big toe. Aside from inflating to the size of the Stay Puft man's toe, so far it has changed into pretty much all of the colors of the rainbow, so at least I've got that going for me. I'm also mad at the can because I only got it in order to reverse-engineer the recipe to make it from scratch in my Instant Pot. Curse you, 20oz Dinty Moore Hearty Beef Stew!

I messed up my wrist yesterday, and it's sore as shit. Worst part is I wasn't doing anything important when I fucked it up. I reached behind me in the truck to get water out of the cooler, but it had some gear on top, and the lid wouldn't open. Not sure if that's where I did it, or it was pulling the gear off that was stuck in place.

Insult to injury, I had just bought some Highs coffee, and it was overheated like in the bad old days. I thought those days were gone with the coming of insulated carafes. Leave it to Highs to fuck up a simple task. And they wonder why they're everyone's least preferred convenience store... If it weren't for selling gas, they'd be completely dead.

A lot of places around here seem to do that. If the coffee can't melt lead then it's too cold.

I deal with the problem by telling them to put a few cubes of ice in with the cream and sugar. Most of the time they seem to get the idea but I do still get the occasional sideways glance. Sorry for being a pussy but I don't want to spend the next 3 days peeling skin from the inside of my mouth. It's just a personal preference.

I always find keurig coffee at work never tastes as good as when it's done with the drip machine at home. Wonder if heat is the issue. Maybe I need to overclock the one at work.

I think I have a drive that's failing in one of my raid arrays. Getting lot of weird crashes on my game server. The VM is not stored on that raid array but the crashes seem to coincide with dmesg errors on the file server. So when backup jobs are running I think they take up so much resources when they hit issues with that drive that it just slows down the entire network, because everything pretty much rides on that server.

I hate to buy a 1TB drive since it's terrible value, but I'm not quite ready to retire that array yet. My plan is to eventually retire that array and build a new array with like 6-8 6TB drives in raid 10 but not quite ready for that purchase yet.
