My furnace started to intermittently make lot of noise again, it seems to always do it when the heat turns off and it runs the blower a bit after. I think when it does that it must be running at a higher speed or something and it causes lot of rattling. I really need to get in there and see what the issue is. It also makes lot of noise when it starts but it's a different noise. That one is harder to track down since I don't hear it as bad when I'm near the furnace but when I'm up stairs. I think something is vibrating and the way it reverberates through the ductwork makes it louder upstairs. I suspect the draft inducer motor but it looks fine when I check it. Nothing loose etc.
I may have to take out the blower assembly and clean and re-balance it, and that's a pain in the butt. I don't know why the duct cleaner guys never touched it, it was half the reason I hired them! Then they tell me they're not qualified for it, whaaa?
Speaking of furnaces, have you ever replaced an inducer motor? My gas furnace emits kind of a high-pitched noise only when the flame is on. I think it's the inducer motor bearings. They probably need some oil, but I was reading about new furnaces not having an oil port. It's been like this for over a year, but it has not gotten any worse. A replacement inducer motor is only $87, and apparently easy to replace on my model so I may just do that.
After the storms we had I needed to use the maul. It feels like it's around 8-10lbs. I was trying to free segment of the stump from a fallen tree. I remember thinking I really need to put an edge on this but I guess what I really need is a splitting maul. I don't think I'd ever seen one until I just looked it up. I think that would do nicely. Especially since I only got part of the stump. I don't want to go at it with the chain saw since it's partially buried and I don't want to run the saw in the dirt. But a nice sharp splitting maul should do the job.My new splitting maul is as mediocre as I remembered. Hard to complain for what I paid, but it has a very small niche where it's useful. Between an axe, and maul/wedges, it doesn't have a very useful range, and splitting with it sends the wood flying. I have to stop, and pick the wood up for more splitting. With the maul, many times I can split a round, and keep the pieces together. Pull them apart when I've gotten it sectioned.
Spanglish is a term used to describe the fluid mixture of Spanish and English spoken in many parts of the U.S. Metriperial? Engtric? Metrard? What shall we call your blending of units? When they announce 15cm it's usually more like a foot.
Without seeing exactly what you're dealing with, you might be better off with a heavy axe. A proper splitting maul isn't really sharp. It has just enough edge to bite into the wood, and the weight/profile wedges the log apart. IOW, you aren't cutting per se. You could put a sharper edge on it, but that would be nasty trying to swing it accurately, and it'll wear you out. I'd look for a used beater axe for hacking in the ground, but even a decent new American axe is only ~$50. I'd suggest harborfreight, but I haven't had luck with Chinese axes. I thought "A chunk of steel on a stick is simple enough. How could they fuck that up?". Well... They managed to fuck that up :^SAfter the storms we had I needed to use the maul. Of course my cheap ass company isn't giving employees a day off today or Monday (my bro had to tell me he gets today off, mother scratcher). So I'm sitting here with just a few other employees, super quiet, not much going on. WHY. FML
