We've been catching and relocating packrats using a small havahart trap. We caught five very quickly. This latest one has stolen the bait and triggered the trap w/o getting caught several nights in a row. Now we're thinking that it isn't a packrat but something bigger like a norway rat.

There's norway you're going to catch it without using some pickled herring as bait.

I die a little every time the draftsman send me a coordinate list; basically a csv file. He prints out the list, scans it to pdf using the scanner, then emails the pdf to me. This is simple ascii text we're talking about here... :^(

On similar note, anyone else find printing from AutoCad is like the most horrible thing ever? Why can't it just fit the whole drawing on the full page instead of putting it in some small corner with a bunch of white space? Have to keep playing with all the settings to try to get it to fill the page but it's either too big or too small. There should be an option to just make it fill and centre to the whole page!

And yeah I hate people who use PDFs for data that is already in a better, more editable format. Worse is people that print, then scan to PDF.

My very favorite workflow was converting between AutoCad and Rockworks, a 1990s era primitive GIS system. Each system had text file import functions but not export functions and, of course, the file formats were different. So we would export HPGL plotter files (PEN UP, PEN DOWN, COLOR=1, etc.) from one package and take them into WordPerfect to use search and replace to add line returns and scaling info to the files. Then we'd run the files through a BASIC script (I might have written it in FORTRAN, don't remember now) to convert the pen commands to the proper feature identifiers and scale the numbers back to project coordinates (we didn't use that fancy lat and long stuff back then as it took too many digits ). Then we'd import the files into the other package and see if it worked. Usually it did.

Some fucking chode smoker stole my AMEX card number several months ago. I had bogus charges on my bill and so those were taken off (I thought) and I was sent a new card. Easy peasy. Except the next month, bogus charges AGAIN, on the same day they were on the previous bill (the 2nd of the month).

Come to find out Amex, for some beautiful reason, puts ATTEMPTED CHARGES ON YOUR OLD CARD on your current bill, so they look like they're from your current/valid card. I don't know why but I'm sure it's a real good reason.

The bogus charges keep appearing, always on the 2nd or 3rd of the month, and they impact my actual valid bill from my valid card. I've spoken with Amex multiple times to get these charges submitted to their fraud department and taken off my bill but the shit keeps happening. I gotta call again cause my current bill is fuct with these stupid fucking charges. Now that I know about those being on my OLD card, I'm going to ask them why the fuck attempted charges on my OLD card show up on my statement, and that I don't wanna see that crap on there anymore.

Now within the past couple of weeks, I've had an attempted password reset at the TimeGhost website (the guys behind TheGreatWar YouTube channel, their new project) and just a couple days ago an attempted password reset on my Epic account. Curiously, some of these bogus charges involve Fortnite (a game by Epic). I am thinking that someone has stolen more than just my CC# but not my whole identity. Fucking people. I'm considering ditching my current email address and moving all accounts over to a new one. It would be a pain because it's been my main email address for over a decade but maybe I should.

Hmmm, thanks for the link. I use Gmail for my several email addresses and I think it works great and I like it. I think it's more of where you give out your email address to, and them being compromised, rather than the email provider itself. But Netcourrier does seem pretty good.

Been out of saran wrap for a few days and finally went out to get some at the CVS across the street. Only brand they had was called Total Home. $4.19, but I had $3 in coupons. It's so terrible that I am going back to get my $1.19 back tomorrow. The shit rips in half (more like 3/4) just unrolling it - it won't unroll as 1 whole piece width-wise no matter what I do. Not only that, the cutter is on the inside of the box rather than the bottom so after you cut, you have to reach in again, exactly where the blade is so there's also a chance of cutting your hand. I've used off-brand saran wrap before in college but this takes the cake. I have never been so aggravated doing something so simple in my life. NEVER. I want to meet the people who designed this crap and punch them in the face.
