lxs turned me on to ublock origin.
It's very good. (why is there no thumbsup emote? AT LEAST WE HAVE A F&CKING FISH CAKE THO)

I'm getting super fail with my lack of sleep. I was already getting only like 5 hours on average but now with the new job and starting 1.25 hrs earlier, at 8 am, than I did, I'm getting even less (because naturally I'm not going to bed any earlier so far). Normally I start getting tired in the afternoon but I had the tired eyes already on the mother scratching drive into work this morning. Must... go to bed... earlier... tonight

Been on ublock for a while myself. At one point it stopped working for Youtube though so I had to switch to Adblock but I went back to ublock after it got fixed. I find it's just more lightweight.

Adblock Ultimate is what I replaced Adblock with, since they started accepting payments for "approved" ads. I've been happy with it's ability to block just about whatever I tell it to.

It has been raining steadily for the last few days. Not heavily but steadily. The rivers and creeks are swollen and ready to bust.

My upload is so slow that I cannot do what I wanna do quickly.
Used to having a 300mbit download and it never occurred to me what kind of unpleasant issues I'd have if I ever uploaded anything.

A couple days ago at one of my leagues, my old bowling ball disintegrated leaving its guts somewhere inside the machine. I kinda liked that ball even if it was just a 10 pounder.

For reasons I don't really understand, I have this need to launch the ball with all my strength. That usually puts it down the lane at about 17-18 mph. But because it's so light, doing that doesn't throw my center of gravity off by much. Either that or I've just adapted to it.

So I had to pull out my backup ball which I haven't used (much) since I got it a couple of years ago. That's a 13 pounder and for me, it's a bit unwieldy. It only shaves about 1 mph off the speed but staying upright after throwing it is a challenge.

Anyway, since I've lost a fair amount of weight since I got the ball, the holes were much too big. So last night at my other league, even after putting about 10 yards of tape in the holes, it was still sliding off my hand with annoying regularity.

So today I had to go to the pro shop to get the little bastard re-drilled. Such a pain in my ass.

Heh, if I could get a grip on it I used to be able to hurl a 10lb ball well over 20mph (I think my record was 26mph).
I preferred the largest I could get, which was usually around 16lbs. I have large hands, used to have amazing grip.
I wasn't to bad at the game either, though I only ever got a perfect game once. I don't think I have the trophy anymore.

I haven't gone bowling in a long time (even offered free matches), ever since I hurt my back. Not going to take the chance.

If I could afford the gun/ammo I'd probably try taking up shotgun bowling. Looks like it could be a safe and fun alternative.

Should have picked his pockets. He wouldn't have been able to ID you to the cops. You might have scored some potatoes.

You know its a bad day when you get food that looks like this:

Taste nothing like how it looks...
Infact i couldn't get past one bite, as it tasted horrible, and still ended up costing a too much for what it was.

This is an age of disgusting greed.

"We can just rip out half the stuff that makes this work and charge them twice as much!
As long as it's expensive and we tell them everybody loves it, they'll gobble it up and pretend they love it too!"

People are so vain and materialistic now you could literally sell them a pile of crap for $400-1000
As long as you had a "name brand" and the crap was from various "famous" people (price varies by reputation).

"All new iShit! You can have the most famous shit ever made...brag to all your friends!
Only a limited amount are created each year, don't miss out and order yours today!"

I'm not sure how it's possible to throw a ball much past 20mph and keep it on the lanes but I've never tried to see if I could throw it faster while ignoring accuracy.

I wonder what speeds Olympic hammer throwers can reach. That's the only way I can see doing it. My guess is that it's not just a matter of strength but more physics - at least as long as you're using the same throwing technique as for bowling.

Sounds like a good rainy day research project though. I'm way to lazy to pursue it though.

edit: Another thought occurred to me. Part of the speed you reach is contributed by your body's velocity as it approaches the foul line. IIRC, a decent running speed is around 6mph. So maybe if you had a good running start you could hit 26mph.

OK, must stop thinking about this.

LOL

Yeah, a moving start and good sweeping hurl including my legs, back and arm. I chuck it straight out, kinda like a discus throw.
The ball doesn't glide gently to the ground, it flies like 30-50% of the way down the lane before slamming into it.

With a little practice it's not inaccurate, and it doesn't need to strike perfectly.

Most places heavily frown on it though, damage to the lane and the ball can bounce and can throw pins all over when it smashes into them.

Nothing new under the sun. Friend's family owns a high end men's clothing store. 30 years ago he sold me a winter coat for $200. The tag said $350. Said he made $$ at $200 but couldn't keep them on the rack at $350. I'm still saying "wut?"

I needed something in the shed so I snow shoed to it and dug out the entrance and got what I needed. Figured while I'm there I should remove a few months worth of snow off the solar panels since I have not done it in a while. I gave up on that since it's just too much work, and the freezing rain and other similar garbage weather screws them up anyway. Well turns out because of all the weird weather we've had so far the snow is too hard now and I can't even remove any of it. Now I'm worried it might be too much weight on them in spring when it starts to melt and that they get damaged. I really need to figure out a solution to automate the snow removal, and also to deal with when there's freezing rain. I will tilt them more next summer, hopefully that at least helps.

Me either...I just have big bones...

Well I am at 11% body fat. While that's not exact either, since it's pinching of the skin and measurements. I do have very little fat, and more than normal muscle. BMI accounts for none of that. Just height and weight. It's very flawed. On paper I look like a fatty.

Found out today after paying over 40k in taxes last year, I owe more. Looking forward to people bagging about "getting back" 8k in taxes, while not even paying that much in. Similar to some people being for a mandatory government "buy back" on guns, when the government never owned them, so it's impossible to buy them back.

They sell electric heated "tape" to prevent pipes and such from freezing...
I assume something like this could be used to help prevent buildup on solar panels, just flip it on before each snow.
Might even be able to eke out enough power from the panels to power the tape, aka self cleaning.

Not sure how well it would fit or work, but thought I'd mention mounting them on the underside with some insulation backing.

There's also the rolls of heated wire they use for flooring, that should have more power than the pipe warmers.

Just throwing ideas out there.
